My wife's '06 Speed6, six speed, w/80k miles has developed a howl in the rearend.....I think. Any ideas?

Is this common? I don't want to take it to the dealer (I'm low on Vasoline).

It looks relatively easy to r/r. It's been a while since I rebuilt a rearend.... on anything.

Where can I get one, other than the dealer?? does anyone do rebuilt exchanges?

How do you know your rear diff mount isn't just beat to s*** yet? Id check that out as well as all mounting bolts. The rear diff mount and bolts are NOTORIOUS for shearing...a little play here and there = whine

Sounds like a wheel bearing possibly. But as monsoon stated check it see if the rear diff is solid and not moving around. Change the oil in it?

Problem Solved!!!! Turned out being left rear wheel bearing. I didn't really seem bad...replaced it, noise gone. Thank you everyone.
