So the rear diff mount bolts on my 2006 Speed 6 were sheared off and it sounds like my rear axle is gonna FALL OFF!!! The dealer is saying NO WARRANTY, BUT thats in work. Besides that, Im tryin to figure out how to get to the bolts. Do i need to drop the whole axle or can i get to them without droppin anything!? I cant find pics or anything of the area. I have found other people who posted the same probs but no pics or how to's. If i left out any info, let me know.

Man that sucks so bad, You would have to drop the rear diff for sure, and Iam guessing those bolts will be a b**** to get out. take the rear diff to a machine shop to see if they can get the bolts bout if they can.... Ya try and pick up a new one off the forums that case is costly. Call into mazdausa and see when your warranty expires, some dealers try and say its out w/o looking up the start date on it, 06 had 4 year 50k bumper to bumper, You shouldent drive your car like that also, Might as well order the upgraded mounts to put in there when everythings out, If you do it at the dealer see if they will put in your upgraded mounts for same price. Dealer say what it would cost?

Well right now my car is under warranty but they are saying sheard bolts arent. Im handling that though so hopefully they will be fixing it on monday! But im just planning for the worst. So i can fix it asap. I removed stuck bolts and screws on aircraft for 6 and a half years so im not worried about that either. Im just trying to figure out how to get to the bolts. The dealer said u had to drop the diff. but it looks like u can get to them without dropping anything.

So my mom got pissed when i told her the story and decided to call them...Mind you im 25 years old, married, and have 2 kids. Ive been on my own since 17, so its not like what ur thinking. Point in this story is this....They guy ended up telling my mom "Oh i didnt know there was a mom involved, if i would have know that then we would have been able to take care of this.".....My mom obviously s*** her pants and said WHAT. He said "Ya young people get in these cars and launch them and shear off these bolts so thats why we dont cover them under warranty for them unless we call mazda and they say go ahead." So obviously my mom said, "So your telling me if i had brought the car in there yesterday that you would have given me a rental car and fixed the bolts all under warranty?"...The guy said "Yes"....Tell me how ****** mazda is!!! If after this crap they dont change these bolts under warranty, I really feel like mazda will lose alot of business from my family and hopefully alot more! I have been lookin at the speed3 and my mom wants an SUV and i WAS tryin to talk her into the CX7 or 9. Anyways, if you guys ever have this problem...Take your momma with you!

so did they fix it? and call Mazdausa and b**** thats discrimination. I would never go to that dealer to buy anything, better not mod your car and take it there they are the type that would void your warranty over nothing. That and I woulda punched that retard in the head for saying some s*** like that.

wow thats is kind of a shocking story.
i'll tell you one thing though, i can bet GOOD money that the DEALER is using the excuse that Mazdacorp has to give the go ahead. thats COMPLETE bogus crap.
If the warranty is still legitimate than it is up the the DEALERS to honor them, Mazdacorp is only brought into the situation if there is a coverage dispute.
on top of that, the age thing that that dufus was telling you is gonna be specific to what his manager at THAT dealership told him.

i wouldnt blame it on mazda, id blame it squarely on that dealership.
you'd be suprised at some of the crazy, distrurbing stories about dealers worming their way out of Warranty coverage.

Hi, thats a really bad story. A few months ago my car broke that bolts and i have to get it to the dealership and they pass it in warranty here at Puerto Rico but they want me to pay $100 for both bolts!!!!!!!!! and i have to wait 3 weeks to they arrive here. The technician took the remain bolt out and I go to a bolt store and buy them 4 harder ones with some washers for $4.50 and they install them for free. But thats a mess, Im 27 and the car has also the smoking turbo thing and they dont want to put a new one because they did that in 2007.

Im going to put my car on the lift tomorrow to check the rear diff and axles. Anything in particular I should be looking for?

make sure you have gold bolts, with notches on the head of the bolt, in the rediff mount if not get some. check the boots on the axles and look for oil.

So basically the issue everyone runs into is there is too much play in the rear diff secondary to weak mounts and the amount of movement is destroying bolts on bolt the mount<->diff as well as the axle bolts?

Actually, shearing is likely more due to the bolts backing out of the housing over time. Then, later shearing off when rotational torque is applied to the diff by the driveshaft under heavy load.
So, if you're under the car for a check up, check the torque of the bolts. I don't have the specs in front of me, but they can likely be found with a search.
Check for a loosness of the diff by pulling left to right, up and down. Check the output shaft boots, like mentioned, for holes or tears. Check the seals where the shafts enter the diff.

My bolts sheared again and extended warranty said no. Me and a buddy did it our selves. I bought and upgraded diff brace and different bushings for the other brace. Once we dropped the rear diff, the bolts came out very easily, notch them with a dremel if you have one and use a screw driver. Bought way stronger bolts at NAPA along with some of that stuff that prevents the bolts from backing out. Took a whole day but my rear is very solid now!!

^ Must feel amazing. I can feel my car getting sloppier and sloppier the more I drive it. Its only a matter of time before I am in the same position as everyone else. However its extremely hard to not get on the gas and swing the rear end around on this car. Just to much fun to drive.

aye, im in the same boat as bluedevil.
ill have to strap it down temporarily until i can get the new rear diff brace.

Esp with only a couple months left of warranty its pretty much make sure I break it now and get it fixed or fix it all myself before something catastrophoic happens.

I just find it hard to think i can get mazda to do:
Turbo Replacement
Center Diff TSB
Rear Diff servicing

Thats a hell of a lot of money
