wow i want too!

that evo of course! but i want to see one before i get.

yeah what is all this talk about functional?

I could only see it being functional if you were trying to set a land speed record or something, they reduce lift and drag. Its not like you are going to shave .5 second off you 1/4 mile time with a diffuser lol

"thank god I have that rear diffuser or i would have lost the race"

Some people road race and autocross and any additional downforce and reduction in drag would be beneficial... but as I stated earlier the number of people who would benefit from it is minimum.

I just wouldn't install anything onto my car that isn't functional.

the ones on that evo and sti are sick, I would be interested in a diffuser if it came out for the ms3.

It would be nonfunctional, unless you had the time and money to do full scale aero testing. More of a aesthetic mod bordering "ricey" imo.
Functional aesthetics = Good
Non-functional aesthetic = (yupnope)

I was thinking about something like this.

This is looking at it from the rear

bottom looking from the front

and just bottom

I didnt want it to go all the way to the rear axle because it would need more support which would ask for more drilling.

The pics of the Evo and STI diffuers is a 2 piece setup, the sharkfin is one piece and the swoop looking diffuser is another.

I think it looks like sex on the EVO and STI!

negative 1000N drag! I MEAN NEGATIVE 1000 APPLES WORTH OF DRAG! ALSO AN INCREASE OF 500 APPLES OF DOWNFORCE! This aero piece is a must for racing.

jk.

I could probably get out a few theoretical numbers for you. I am almost certain though that none of those mazdaspeed 3 aero parts like side skirts or front lip do anything to your aerodynamics.

My suggestions for a diffuser would be a simple style with vertical fins, much like that sketch posted earlier. Those diffusers like the ones on the Evo an Sti would only look good on our car if we had a full aero bodykit to compliment it IMO. If you just have some big carbon fiber diffuser hanging off the back with nothing else to compliment it, its going to look silly.

there arent many to choose from =)

lol where do u get 10 from theres the re lip which is too expensive, gv alot of people have , and dg is just ugly looking, weirdly all 2 letter companies.. if the diffuser looks good i know someone will buy it.. only a handful of people would care if its truely functional as long as there is no added drag

oh well i was counting like...that front lip and side skirts from the ebay company, the autoexe bumper and the rest of the stuff from dg.

Anyways, I found a manufacturer for this product and he seemed thrilled about it. It'll be made out of 1/8" ABS plastic. I am going to send him a detailed cad file so I can get a quote from him. Looks like it will be quite expensive for the mold though.
