Rear A/C not working, making noise

Another A/C issue has popped up with my 08 Mazda 5 GT. I noticed yesterday that the rear air was making a strange noise and not blowing cold. It almost sounds like the fan is going out, but it's also blowing warm air, no cold at all. I know this isn't exactly a separate system like you'd find in a larger van, so what could it be? Anyone else had this problem?

It happened all of a sudden too. My wife and I are usually the only one in the car, she doesn't use the rear air (too noisy for her) but I do to help keep the car cool. It worked fine about a week ago. Keep in mind, I had the air conditioning fixed according to a TSB on this car ( A/C erratic or not working post) a few years ago.

This is not a huge deal really, since I can just leave the system off. But with only 44k miles, this is annoying to me and will hurt when I go to sell it eventually. I haven't had a chance to dig into it yet either or consult my Mazda shop manual. And suggestions on what it is?

Thanks in advance.

Keep starting and stopping the fan for about 50 cycles. That solved a similar problem for me this spring.

Thanks for the direction! Pretty sure this is it, but I will try to cycle the fan button before pulling off the panels.

Repeatedly cycling the fan button from off to on made it work. The door must get "sticky" without use. Thanks again.
