RC car drifting

What would a good starter car be for someone wanting a new hobby? I'm not too concerned with drifting, I just want hellacious speed. Any suggestions? I'm thinking nitro :P

i got an eletric one from toys r us for 60 bucks and its pretty fast compared to the ones i had when a was younger, and after non stop abuse (in my opinion), the reverse doesnt work, i opened it up before, but there was really no point cause i didnt know what i was looking at, but i am pretty sure there are 2 motors, its rwd, and 9.6v, anyone know whats the problem or how i can get this fixed?

How much u looking to spend? I got my first Nitro... It's fun but a lot of work. I'm constantly replacing parts. You lookin to build your own car or buying one already built?

Um....I'm too lazy to read the whole 3 pages. If you plan to drift with your r/c's, I highly recommend an electric. Nitro r/c's are way to powerful, you will always spin out if you try to drift with nitro. Trust me on this. I have learned from experience. Later.

I have finally got my car to work how it was meant to work! Brakes work! Throttle is good! Only problem is that I found out yesterday that my steering was off so my car couldn't steer very far to the left. I will be back out there today to test it out again. The Car with the steering problem drifted really nice for a Nitro. Spin outs were at a minimum. We were doing figure 8's around some wooden crates. What I learned is that controlling the throttle about 1/4 pressure on the piston and going to full throttle when in need of turning a little bit tigther works the best. The Motor sound with my RX-7 Body definitely looks like a drift car. =) Can't wait to try it out today.

you should be able to adjust your steering on your radio.... if it is adjusted ll the way and u still can turn far... then the servo horn on the servo may have jumped over a tooth or two. what u will do then is just remove the horn and roll it over 1 or 2 teeth...

Traxxas Nitro 4Tec!!! Awesome little car!!! The radio that comes with it works decently, but can always be upgraded. I used to have one. I upgraded the nitro engine to a Trinity/Picco competition engine, CVEC Exhaust, MIP drive axles, CNC machined aluminum wheels, solid rubber tires, and the high speed gear kit. Got it clocked once at 82 mph. It wasn't much fun except for in a straight line...too damn fast. But at stock it was a VERY fun car. Not to mention the replacement parts are cheap!!!

Ya I fixed it on my Steering and it works a lot better. Also I have adjusted my throttle to 7% on the remote. It works so awesome because it doesn't over rev. Now I'm just having a little problem with the wheel locking up when im turning. I think I might have the nut on to tight. I currently can drift long islands no problem. I'm working on the tight turns that are like in the track situations.

id check the wheel nut and also check that a steering link or knuckle isnt hitting the wheel when u have the steering at full throw... maybe u are noticing it now since u have the throttle turned way down and before there was enough power goign to the wheels to keep it from binding (locking up)

Your a Genious! Thats probably why I didn't notice it. I must say I'm very impressed. Its a little heavy to drift cuz once it gets going it doesn't stop.

micro rs4's kick ass. . ..mine is still stock but i only got it to play with my kitchen on rainy days. . .or maybe just so i can play inside. . .lol

im still waiting on my 1/8 lightning to come. . . .. .moving up to the big boys. . ...buggies are cool. .next car on my list is a 1/10th touring car since i want on road too

would it be possible to get a R/C fast enough to take a decent newer car at the drag?

hmm. . maybe

they do have some cars that stock can hit 60+mph with their crappy engine and a 2 speed

they also make drag r/c cars but i was never really into 1/10th scalle drag or real drag for hte matter

Haha you would have to modify it alot. Theres a video of some Nitro Car that goes 100+ MPH... haha and its a 1/10th scale. Basically its like the price of an intercooler kit for our car to do that.

electric would be tough.... but the 8th scale nitros are supa dupa fast...

nitro engine, 2 speed trannys... they can get to 60 quick!

hey thound, that micro is up for sell. it will be on ebay soon... as soon as i get of my lazy butt.

i also remember back in like 99 or 98 in rcca they had a dual motor dual battery TA03 electric that they clocked at like 94 mph and then it glitched and crashed into a curb

nah im not interested in getting another micro rs4. .maybe one day but there aren't really any micro tracks in my area and im usually just using it to bash around in my kitchen floor and drift there lol

that chassis looks sweet though i may go look into that
