rattle

I know everybody has said everything about that stupid clunk, but my problem sounds more like a rattle and it sounds like it is coming from the left enclousure in the back(where there is no speaker). It sounds to high to be coming from the sway bar and everyone I have shown agrees. Is this a different problem our is it the same one that everyone else is encountering.

The enclosure sucks

That little piece of plastic on the top is your culpret (IMHO) Mine rattles ever so slightly.

Just turn the bass up and go back there and find it. That is what I had to do. I ended up just playing around w/ it until it stopped

I've got rattle coming from that raised center panel in the rear window area. Just the one side vibrates at certain frequencies/volumes.

grrr.

I've had my car for 6.5 months and I have a rattles behind the steering wheel/ infront of the gauges, beneath the stereo, inside center console around the e-brake, and in that back deck area. I also have a squeeky driver's seat and seat belt buckle mechanism. It, at times, makes me think I'm drivng a model T but I'm pretty sure they didn't have this many rattles :D I haven't attempted to correct many of the cabin noises unless you count shouting profanity in the sources general direction. Does anyone have solutions for these problems?

My sub/amp rack rattles like no other, it's to the point where I can't even listen to the sub without it pissing me off cause it sounds like ass. My car is going in tomorrow at 2:00pm and so help me god if they give me any s*** about anything I am going to fail them misreably on there damn survey and they can take it up with my Dad who is an attorney.

Is it me or do car dealerships really just not give a s*** once they sell you a car. I am so fed up with Car dealerships I could scream some major profanity. I'm tired of being treated like crap! They sold me the damn car and they should back there product until I don't drive it anymore or it explodes! Sorry just a vent, I HATE CAR DEALERSHIPS!!!

I tracked my rattles down and used strategically placed peices of window insulation (1 inch wide foam, sold in a roll) and placed them between the pieces that were rattling. You can find that stuff in the hardware section in walmart for like $2. After that, my car was nice and quiet. :)

Thanks fast! This foam, is it a type weather stripping type of material or does it come out of a can or something (i.e. insualtion foam for homes or pipes)? Does the product have a brand name? Sorry for the dumb questions, I just want to make sure I use something someone has had success with.

EDIT: "solid, in a roll" my bad. You answered that!

I'm just about to put a fist through the gauge area of my car. The other rattles I can handle but that one is making me go insane.

Heathen

Sometimes the wire for the LED (for the alarm) rattles b/c it's vibrating on the steering column. (mine did). What I did was took my steering wheel and adjusted it down as far as possible to see where this red wire was touching. I then moved it a little and like Madden said, "BOOM!" No more rattle! :D

Check it out before you break your dash :D

Hmmm, I'm not sure of the brand name, and like you noticed, it's solid in a roll. :) It's about 1 inch wide by 1/4 inch thick, and it's grey. Good stuff, and cheap! It's used to seal cracks around windows, doors, windows A/C units, stuff like that.

Yes

Mine kinda makes noise as well it is most Defintely not the clunk.
I think it was knocked around by some luggage and a stroller I had back there.

I have this EXACT same rattle. It is horribly annoying because it does it the worst at slow (25MPH) speeds (right when the wind-noise and road noise calms down). Mine is coming from behind the guages -- and I can stop it if I place my hand with some pressure on top of the dashboard above the center of the gauges. No idea how to fix it aside from either tearing the whole dash apart (don't want to do that -- read Dexter's thread on that last night) or putting a hula girl up there that's really heavy. Neither are an attractive option.

It's not just you -- each and every car dealership I've ever dealt with is exactly that way. SOMETHING must be done to lay the hurt on them mo-foes. Trust me, NOBODY hates dealerships more than me.(chair)

(lol) That's great! I feal for ya man.

HEY FOR ALL YOU RATTLERS.....unscrew your amp and place a piece of foam, or ghetto it with a soft clothes, between your box and amp. It COMPLETELY eliminates the rattling....only for screws and about 10 mins.....

If only I can fix the rattle in my right side passenger door. I figured for sure someone else would complain about it.

Close - my right side passenger WINDOW rattles but only when the window is partially down. Probably not what you're talking about, huh?

I have the under the steering column rattle going on right now. Got my service coming up so I'll have em look at it. I'm thinking on switching to synthetic.

Trust me I love my mazdaspeed just as much as everyone else here but why is there so many problems with them? This was my first brand new car and I figured I wouldn't have any problems for quite some time, but rattling and hesitation who knows what's next. I hope not every mazda vehicle is like this because right now I 'm not to sure If I would ever buy one again.
