Ran From Cops?!!!

This one time on the Highway!
There was a cop out of his car, under a bridge, with his gun tagging people. I was following another car doing 120 to 130 (KM/H) in a 100, and the cop tagged the guy infront and I. Luckily, there was an exit right there, and got off, and drove the streets to the next entrance, couldn't see if the other guy got caught, but another lucky day for me..

I am not proud of what i did. I have enjoyed some areas of roads perhaps too much. I am more shocked by what i did. I dont want to be in that situation again.

When I was 16 I ran from the cops 3 times in a '76 Cutlass with a 250 straight six...... It had a top speed of 85 mph.... (no... that is not the fastest I've ever gone.... oops, that is a different thread right???)

It all depends on how well you know where you are, where you can go (and hide), how smart you are, or how dumb you are.... and how much luck you have...

After 3 times and not getting caught I figured all my luck was up, so now... 17 years later, I have never tried that again... but if I did, my P5 would be a much better get away car...

YOU THINK YOUR P5 IS SLOW??????

Try running from the cops thrice in a car that goes 0-60 in 21 seconds.... and you all would think your P5 is a Viper..... duh.

If anyone thinks I'm full of Poo, then just say so and I will give you the play by play...(honestly, I'm not trying to impress anyone...) Three cop runs are exciting, but I don't want any more since those California cop chase shows came out.... "OUCH..." That biker that slammed into the bus was enough for me................

Later.....

No it was today.. On the way back yesterday i was actually kinda composed. Ironic though that i was talking to u about speeding and the next day i have this little "incident"
no more speeding for me... at least not like that. I should have known too cause supposdly they are crackin down in NJ.. to make money of course
You think NJ is cracking down??? You guys are lucky you don't got Bloomberg, who the heck has heard of a $200 ticket for running a red??? Also, those damn camera things are showing up all over the place. I got two parking tickets in the past 5 days, totaling $65. Both times, I was in and out in under 5 minutes, yet, I come back to see that lovely orange slip on my wiper.

I too once upon a time hit the pedal to the right instead of the one in the middle. First time I did, I barely even recognized what was happening. Unmarked, downtown, 35 in a 25. I see the cop hop in the car fast and take the next corner, fortunately behind a couple of buildings and into the qwick-e-mart where I park and go in for a slurpee. cop walks in looking around, I take a LOONG time pouring my slurpee, he leaves (ahh gotta love podunk, wher ehe gave up so easily, and I don't know why he didn't check my plates, but there were a couple other mazda pickups rolling around there as well)

next time, I knew what I was doing. 12cars doing about 120 up I5 towards Portland OR. (my civicsi in the middle of a neuspeed club) See a sheriff car on an overpass's lights come on, and to my suprise everyone around me guns it. I guess it was a race in a way, fortunately I hung alright. The slowest dude got the ticket.

next up, again, group of cars, nothing fancy, 100 on I-90 outside of seattle. we all pass the same speedtrap, see the lights, and immediately tun it to the next exit and scatter. I stopped for lunch and didn't see one statepatrol car.

My most retarded one, long striaghtaway on a country road. about 1am, 70in a55, see the cop facing the other way, lights come on, and he turns aroudn behind me, I punch it, get upto about 125, make it over the hump, and slam my brakesto hang a sharp left ont he crossroad that I know's lurkig right on the other side. duck down that, unfortunately I guess he saw that coming, fortunately with some twisties and barns as well I manage to get quite a bit ahead of him. Duck behind a barn, killthe lights. Cop goes flying by, I finish what is as close as you can get to a heart attack when you're a strapping 20yo lad, and go back out the other way.

So about 2 weeks later for some reason I'm retarded and the same thing happens, only this time he's all over me on the twisties even. Fortunately I realize I'm ******, pullover, and he recognises me as I'd helped him when his battery was dead once, so somehow he lets me off with a "there is no way you should even still have your lisence right now, but You did me a favor so I'm going to do you one, don't think it'll happen again" I consider myself VERY fortunate on MANY levels. I was starting to feel pretty cocky and invincible about my little hopped-up civic back in '98 when it really wasn't the in thing to do. And quite honestly after the previous experience I was pretty damn proud of myself and prolly about one more out-running attempt from winding up in jail.

Since then I prettymuch don't even speed. And Seeingas I bike-commuted for a year, and worked really hard to afford my P5 I'd just about die if I crashed it. Sure I let it loose on those backroad twisties when she's begging me to push it, but were I ever to see redand blue, nothing but straight to the curb, and I'll take my chances smooth-talking thankyou.

damn you're lucky...here they would have sent a chopper after you asap and at least got your plate. then they would be waiting at your house when you get home.

A couple years ago i was flying down the freeway and about 115 in my white 88 camaro rs. There was a beast..lol...It was about 12:00 midnight, i see him on the side of the freeway, lights come on and hes off. I switch freeways going around 115-120 for and took the first exit i saw. Waited 5 minutes and got back on the freeway. A couple miles down the road i see a white 5.0 pulled over....

About a year ago i was racing vr6 golf and a celica gts in my wrx, launched on em hard. I had like 3-4 carlengths on them, we passed a intersection and guess who was waiting there. Hell no i was going to get my car impounded. i just gased it jumped on the freeway. took it up to 135 and kept it there for a couple minutes, jumped freeways. and went straight home.... I was scared shitless the whole way home. My friend told me that the celica got pulled over...

And here is one of the times when they got me. I was driving in oakland on the freeway in my wrx at about 98 mph turn a corner and see the cop....my dumb ass hits the breaks... i saw his gun sticking out the window... i downshift and take off... i hit 125 and kept it there..in the backround i see red and blue lights creeping up me. in the reviewi see the a car creeping on me slowly...I hit traffic and took the the first exit i saw. he took the exit and then turned on his lights when got on the exit. i turn the corner, and am just like **** it. i didnt know the streets...He gets out of the car and was like damn your cars faster then mine, and if i didnt hit traffic i woulda probably got away. i was shitting bricks thinking i just ran away from the cops... He said i was in the cool because he forgot to turn on his lights right away so it didnt count as a chase..LUcky me. we cant win em all.

Now in my p5, if i get 1 more ticket...bye bye license for a year. hope i hold out....

Well for one, I live in podunk, and second, all of this was over 5years ago. Trust me boys, the cops didn't used to be as nasty about speeding. I reacall passing cops doing 90 on long empty highways a couple of times and they watched, and just didn't care. I was in full control, and not drunk-looking, and definately not a trucker, so they really weren't concerned.

I got pulled over once in the middle of nowhere utah at 3am between nowhere and nowhere for doing 75 on a 35mph corner. I didn't even know there were people breathing within 100miles of me. Figured I was ******, but turns out he was just really bored, wound up talking at me forlike an hour about his family. Fortunately I guess when told him I was on the way to Colorado to visit my little brother I hit a soft spot and he let me off. Didn't even run my info. Actually at the next qwick-e-mart down the road (about 50miles) I'd stopped for gas, he pulled in behind me and I was scared, like really scared. Had visions of middle of nowhere cop-**** things goingon. He walked up to the pump I nearly pissed myself, asked how I take my coffee, and proceded to run inside and come back out with a cup'a joe and a doughtnut for me.

Ok, the first and second time I was on my way home from work at Brown Derby in Montrose Ohio after 2am... (I was 16 and working at a restaurant)

Going south thru Copley Ohio on Cleveland -Massilon Rd. in a 35 mph zone I was doing over 60 both times and a cop was coming right at me.. I could tell cause they always had perfectly aimed headlights back then... (knew it was a cop...no one elses lights looked like that...)

So just before they got to me I turned off my lights and floored it (stupid me, I thought doing that would help me get away..maybe it did???) ...

I saw the cops turn on their lights behind me and start to turn around, but I had to pay attention ahead, I was driving in the dark going about 80 now....

I made an easy curve to the right and down I went across the bridge over the Barberton Resevoir but I could not see the other side so I turned on my lights.... and just in time... The other side of the bridge is cut out of the rocks and I was just two seconds from hitting the rocks and swerved left just in time.... Anyway...

Once coming up and out off the bridge and up out of the Resevoir I topped the hill at the Copley/ Norton City line and headed down the hill towards Route 261.

But just after the City line there is a road to the right called Reimer Rd. Well, on the left hand side where Reimer dead ends into Cleve-Mass Rd was a place called Euro Car. ( A repair shop for european cars where I got my first ride in a Lambo..That is another story!!)

My parents house was right behind this car shop, so I took a left into the car shop and drove right thru their lot, up and over the hill and down into my parents back yard... killed the engine and the lights... remember it was past 2am... jumped out of the car and stood on the roof... I watched cop cars come from the north, south, up and down Reimer Rd. looking for me, but I was safe!!!

That exact same thing happened twice!! (I know... what are the odds of getting away the exact same way twice... but it is totally true...) What a rush!! I could not beleive my luck.... Man was that great seeing all those cops trying to find me....

The third time was on the way to work... A different place further up Cleve-Mass rd. in Bath Ohio.... The road is nothing but a bunch of hills up and down... I was passing a slow poke and just as I did a cop crested the hill coming the other way... True to form I floored it and got to work and hid my car between the two big garbage dumpsters in back... I ran up front just in time to see the cop go blazing by and not even notice me..... that time was in broad daylight and I was a little shaken.... so I gave up cop running then and there....

After that there were times where I thought I could have made it and got away, but I never tried...since I had promised myself not too (and always got a freaking ticket too evey time...)

I would never trade those thrills for anything..... But that just goes to show you.... HP and track times are just not the same as real thrills, fun or whatever.... They are just for bragging... and bragging don't mean s*** to me.....

Later...

I am glad akhilleus says he won't do it again. I have no problem with people driving fast, just do not do it in in traffic or neighborhoods. I see people driving too fast in traffic and neighborhoods all the time.

Actually, I have testified against several people in court. Once against a motorcyclist who zipped past me and later crashed into an old woman, paralyzing her. She sued, and won 1 million compensatory and 5 million punitive damages.

Guess what? His insurance policy only covered the first million. This guy'll be paying for it the rest of his life.

Someone hits me driving like an asshole = I will own them and their children for the rest of their lives = I will retain my own counsel, not just my insurance companies counsel, and go for blood.

You'll here who speed at inappropriate times (probably the younger ones here) should think about your liability when you do this. Seriously, slavery still exists: in the form of civil liability. You wanna be someone's b****?

I'm glad to hear someone is talking sense here. Driving 100 MPH and RUNNING from the police is always a bad idea. When I see guys flying by me like that I pray for the police to catch them. They endanger not only their own lives, but the lives of everyone around them including the cops who are just trying to do their job.

I also find it funny that so many people here brag about racing the P5 when it was never meant to be a fast car to begin with. You guys need to buy cars with at least a V8 engine and get out on a legitimate race track somewhere...somewhere where you won't kill the rest of us who are trying obey the laws.

no, i am thinking about the SS interceptors...those get to 180's..:(
What SS interceptors? What kind of car? Impala SS? That's an LT-1 Caprice. (uhm)

I'm not going into all the times I outran the cops.....

well it depends on where you live.....we have soooo many damn unmarked cars out here it isnt funny.....just yesterday i got caught by an unmarked camaro ss.....he would've pwned my a$$ so bad but he let me off with a warning and said that lucky for him his radar gun wasnt working and he used his "eyesite"....which i think was total bs just b/c my car looks pretty and he had to take a closer look at my car and the sexxy driver in it.............anyways good to hear nothing bad happened and you realize it was wrong

speedings good and all but only where its safe u know like the highway at night, or county roads ill be honest i speed at night when im coming home from school its like 10 and there aint hardly any cars out there but it totaly pisses me off when i see asswipes flying like 40 in the 30 zones and thier weaving in and out of traffic yestday almost got hit by this damn honda and today same thing but it was a corolla...and its MY fault if i hit them as they cut into and out my MY lane w/o signaling....retarded laws...but to say that mostyl younger drivers are the problem is kinda wrong i couldnt tell you how many times in the past ive almost been hit from peple weaving lanes on the highway and like 9 times outta 10 there older peple with nicer cars bmws mercades and such...oh well im done...

its not good to spped on the highway at night..at all... very very risky.. in richmond what cops do is they hide in the bushes in the city at 2am in the morning.. its very hard to spot them around those times..

hmm guess its really where u live becuase around here they cant hide all the have is the breakdown becuase its a raised HW so you can pretty much see them from a far with you lights, and the HW lamps too..though i did hear that in Deleware you cant speed even a little bit, when i drove to FL i had to drive the limit the entire time that was crazy!

I generally tried to be as "safe" as possible when i was testing my car. I didnt swerve in and out of lanes... i would just find a clear lane and go. Thats what happened here. Since yesterday I havent even had the desire to punch it off the light. :(
