Racing Wheels?

I am looking for some really lightweight 15" x 7" wheels for my MSP. Any suggestions? I also need to keep the offset as close as possible.

I'm using some Kosei K1 wheels for autocross/track...approx. 13lbs each. They are 15x7 with +45 offset and work well with 225/50/15 tires. With this setup, I experience light rubbing in the back (fender) ONLY while the car is weighted down with extra people/gear. My suspension is stock except lowered with iON race spec springs.

I hear the Kosei K1 is hard/expensive to find these days, but I'm not sure. If you're interested and close (convenient), I can probably offer an attractive price for the wheels as I'm currently looking to upgrade. The wheels aren't cosmetically in great shape (they used to be white (wink)) but are functionally perfect and have the correct size lugs and aluminum centering rings for our car.

Let me know via PM if you're interested.

Peace...(hippy)

Try Revolution or Panasport racing wheels. They can machine most any offset and the prices are not too bad.

I have 2 kosei k1s 15x7 on the way with 205/45/15 Nitto Nt555r's.

Definately a great race wheel... :)
If you can find them, snatch em up!

If not, then rota slipstreams are some of the most popular autocross rims you can find.
Also nice are TSW Hockenheim Rs. BBS style "mesh" wheel, and are lightweight and can be found in 15x7.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I was looking for smaller wheels because we have a high performance driving event at VIR in June. The smaller diameter wheels should save me about 30 pounds in unsprung weight and shorten the final drive ratio giving me a little better acceleration.

I'm going with rota subzero's in 15x6.5. I already have two, but they are an offset of 40mm. Will these fit with 205/55/15's?

That wheel/tire combo should fit easily without rubbing...as long as you're not lowered too much from stock...more than 2 inches which you shouldn't be able to achieve without a full coilover setup anyway.

I'm running Kosei K1 TS's in 17x7 (with a 50mm offset,)which weigh only 14.1 lbs. With 215-45-17 Bridgestone S03's mounted the total weight per wheel is 37.2 lbs.

They are available in 15's too, but check out the tire rack to be sure.

BTW the 17x7's were only $199ea, which is pretty cheap for the weight - but they are cast, not forged.

The Centerline RPM is available in a 15" version for $135 each (see ad in this month's Sport Compact Car). This is a 12.9 lb FORGED wheel. They don't advertise it, but it is available in a +50 offset. I was considering the 17 x 7 version of this wheel, but it was $280 each.

I personally don't care for them, but here is a pic of the wheel on a P5:

(made even worse, IMO, by the bling)

I checked out those Panasport wheels & I REALLY like them. Unfortunately, it looks like they are about as hard to find as the black Slipstreams that I'm looking for right now. Time to start calling people. :D

Mmmmmm....hadn't thought about it much. I paid $390 with 75% used Victoracers on them last year. They currently carry Azenis with just 2 autocrosses on them. Are you going to be at Mineral Wells tomorrow? Maybe we can talk about it then.

who is racing there tomorrow? I cant race until I get some new wheels and tires. I dont want to destroy the stock tires so fast.

if you can find them (which is very unlikely) I would go for the Sprint Hart Cp-r. These are the wheels I am trying to get ahold of right now; very hard to find since the company does not exist anymore, and they are very expensive even used. Here is what they look like:
