race a s2000??

You guys sure about that? I have a coworker with an '05 S2000 which I have beaten time and time again from a stop. No, I don't blow his doors away, but I do pull a couple car lengths on him in the 1/4. Some very good drivers have managed a 13.9 in the 1/4 with them, but most only run 14.0 - 14.4 (wiggle)
yep, people are so focused on rwd vs fwd they dont realize how hard it is to get the s2k into s2k into 13's. even my boy who has a s2k said its hard to get the s2k into 13's. its tricky with the lack of torque.

he drove my car for the first time at the strip and ran 14.1. first thing he said was that he could get off the line better with his s2k but could tell from the power and tq of the MS3 it wouldnt be hard to catch the s2k.

now the 350z off the line is a very different story. we can only beat them on a roll up to about 130mph but around 135 the VQ's top end reels us back in

and to the guy that thinks you need to throw a turbo on the s2k or any hona to make power is mistaking. go look at the "J's s2k or amuse s2k" hondas are meant to be N/A. FI is just a cheaper quicker alternative to make power but id take a fully bult N/A honda motor over a FI honda anyday of the week.

and this is coming from someone who doesnt like hondas.
 
how much of a better chance does a speed 6 have? stock
stock for stock, off the line MS6 wiill beat a s2k no prob b/c of more power and awd. but on a roll, i wouuld think the weight of the MS6 would cause the s2k to reel it in and pass it
 
Actually the AP1 with the 9000 redline is a little slower than the AP2, which has a 8000 redline. The AP2 makes about 10 lb-ft of torque more than the AP1 and makes it sooner as well. The general consensus is that the AP1 is about 2 tenths of a second in the slower in the 1/4 than the AP2.
but the AP1 sounds much nasttier than the AP@...love the sound of AP1's with a good exhaust

Some of the members on the S2000 forums call the MS3 a "nasty lil' bastard" and advise against messing with them.

I raced two s2000s with my almost stock ms3 (rear motor mount and cobb sri)
-One stock s2000 I had him by a few car lengths
-one heavily modded (turbo) s2000 that beat me by a few

I also had a s2000 owner tell me that he wouldn't race me because I had a Turbo and that he didn't race turboed cars. LOL

I think he is alil scared of speed 3s
 
The cars are close enough (he is better off the line, you a bit better from a roll), that mods might make the difference. But because they are close, the nod will go to the best driver. Experience matters. And making that 2-3 shift will be critical.

flat floot shift that joker and i bet you pull on him even from a dig.

Toss a few mods on the MS3 and the S2000 does not stand a chance.

And yes, you do need to toss FI on the S2000 to make good power. The J's S2000 put down 204WHP ONLY. The AMUSE BTW is Turbo'd.

The ONLY way to make power with the S2000 is FI. However, they make SERIOUS power with it so if you run into one you better hope he is not tuned or on low boost. A simple SC gets them over 300WHP and it is a simple bolt-on.

An S2000 with a Stroker Kit and gears might give a stocker a hard time due to the weight to HP.

last time i checked, j's s2k had 320bhp so thats around 280-290whp
 
Draw you own conclusions. See attached data sheet from C&D.

I'd say if you can run 14.0 flat, you'd take him, stock against stock. But with a bad launch or a missed 2-3 shift, you are toast. It's probably the best driver's win. Too many guys here are still stick in the 14.4 second rut with bad launches or mismatched mods. A good driver in a stock MS3 that know how to launch can run 13.8's and make a Honda s2000 look really bad.

Don't screw with him on a road course, though. He'll lap your ass before you know it. Little bastards handle like a dream and have incredible brakes.

i can pull a bolt on s2k from a 70 roll, so i would think from a 30mph roll.. u can pull on one all day long. this is all fictional talk of course

+1 for me it was from a stop and 20mph roll same outcome for me
 
a friend of mine with an S2K in low boost made 320 and in high made 480whp. We went for a night of funn and he race in low boost a ms3 with bolt ons and tune to 300, and the ms3 beat him. The race was from 30mph, at the jump the s2k had him but than the ms3 pull a car than the s2k was coming by his drivers door but they stop so the ms3 had my friend by half a car.
 
i put over 2 buses on a s200, and all i had was a dp.. s2000's r slow, unless u turbo em, then ur in buisness
