I live in Chicago and I know the exact spot you're talking about. This sounds like a worst nightmare. I just bought my car and I'm sick to think this could happen.
Keep us posted, want to know if his insurance really covers the damage or do they screw you over. Who do you use for your mazda mechanic??

where at in chicago u from......he had state farm..well his dad did on the mini van...so its goin good so far...also i called the auto barn and they recomended country side collision to repair it and i have heard good things from there so yeah thats what i know so far..also the estimate so far is almost 10,000 in damage and they r takin the engine apart tomarro to see the lil things that are broke and need to be fixed...so ill let ya people know what goin on!

snip: i just have one question does anyone know of hearin problems with mazdas airbags goin off???? cause mine didnt and when dexter had his miss hap...nither did his?? just wonderin ...alright later guy and girls...any question feel free to ask

Sorry to hear about the accident Though as a person who has had both front airbags go off in an accident, be glad you were not hurt and they didnt go off. I think I would have been better if they didn't in my case. I ended up with burns on both arms and a broken hand from them.

For the $9800 CDN to fix the car they said that about 5 to 6 of that was just for the airbags. Damn things are the biggest reason for our insanely high insurance rates.

Sorry, had to rant there for a sec.

front airbags are only designed to go off if you get hit directly from the front. IIRC up to an offset of 15 degrees, I dont know if your vehicle was equiped with side airbags, but I presume that you would have to get hit at close to 90 degrees for those to deploy
