Quick question about wastegate actuator

Anyone have any install notes or instructions for installing a wastegate actuator? We have to install one on Y0sky's car at my house this Saturday and was wondering how hard it is etc... thanks guys.

i got at the top bolt for the wga with just a regular wrench, it takes a while because theres not much room but it isn't too hard. For the bottom bolt, i used my ratchet with an extension and a flex joint... i had someone under the car hold the ratchet while i helped guide it onto the nut, and then held it there while they turned (its really hard to have any space to turn, it may take a couple tries to get it oriented right). After that, we used a really long screwdriver to just mess with the clip on the end of the rod, and it came out. Putting the clip back on was probably the hardest part.... we used some curved pliers, two long screwdrivers, and some luck.

Haven't had a chance to look under my hood yet, but I thought this might fall under the thread... Idle and vacuum are fine, unlike the last time my WGA failed, but now my boost at stock setting hits about 11-12psi and when I swtich to 10psi, it's now hitting 14psi. I'm hopping maybe a line is kinked somewhere, just wondering if there's anything esle to look for.

Sounds like you have the same problem as Y0sky. Is the car fast at all or does it just seem like the turbo spools but doesn't go like it should?

^ It pulled like a bat outta hell, almost like if a hose came loose, but the boost held instead of increasing.

my 2 cents

i'll just say that my actuator was stuck also, but my car was overboosting i had 21 psi of bosst in about 4 seconds. Thanks to this thread I bought the ATP actuator before I ended up blowing a head gasket or maybe something even worse.

But for those few times where I boosted on accident..... that was a party. hahaha :]

no doubt, i have video of my gauge at 19psi and it was fast! when it was only going up to 16 I took out my buddy in his SRT with minor mods, totally burst his bubble, but I knew I couldn't keep it like that, I too had already ordered the ATP. It's a good product and is holding boost well

problems...

i am having the same issues with my car.. i am not car smart by any means but when a loud hissing sounds starts coming from my turbo.. i know its not good.. i had a buddy look at it and he said its the WGA. did a littel of research and found this page.. you guys have been helpful in figureing out what might be wrong and how to diagnose it.. now for part two.. it stopped hissing... thinking that i had enough time left to order the part i drove it like normal.. not too crazy... but as of last night i was driving on the freeway and as soon as i went over 4k rpm or when the car is supposed to hit boost.. the car would act like it wanted to stall and jerk really hard.. i ordered the new WGA of the ATp website and hopefull ill get it in this week... any help???

palmdale suck! (omg)

It could be a leak in the intake, keep your eye out for torn or loose coupling or loose clamps.
