Questions for the Moderators

As you almost certainly know, there are quite a few stories circulating on several Mazda forums involving owners who have lost new car warranty coverage due in part to posts(concerning mods, 1/4 mile times, etc.) made on forums such as this one. I would like to know what action 247 is taking-if any-to protect the identities of the individuals who post on this board. I would also like to know if Mazda or Mazda dealer representatives are or have been given access to member information such as their ISP.

Yeah I'd like to see what the answer to this one is. Since I firmly believe this site sold me down river......

I wonder if anyone will even get to read this thread or if there gonna edit or delete it?

i guess when you have people that just look at dollar signs from CP-E and Mazda you can only expect to be sold up the river. and its bs but i guess these days you can only expect it people are only in it for themselves.

and i guess thats why other more compentant sites have popped up. you know Darksun?

what I don't get is they'll push for vendors to sell there parts on this site then sell the members down river to mazda usa who ever buys those parts. Then tell you all types of s*** like "you gotta pay t play" and "You knew this would happen". Kinda ruthless when you think about it.

Does anyone have proof of Mazdas247 selling people out to Mazda USA? Sounds like a fair bit of speculation to me.

Then It shouldn't be a problem for them to make a disclaimer saying that anything posted on this site can not be used against www.mazdas247.com or any of its members in trying to void the warranties of there vehicles. right?

Which is why I started this thread in the first place. Common sense tells me that 247 would want to put an end to this controversy once and for all. Now they have the opportunity.

Anything posted on the site is public domain. If you list your location, name, email address, mods, timeslips, relations with dealers, specific issues you've had with them, etc., they are going to be able to track you down. The only information that mazdas247 has that isn't visible to everyone is my email address, which doesn't really pinpoint me over anyone else. What info do you think the forum would be sharing? It's not like they are letting others access PM's...

exactly. thats why some people dont list their mods, location, or anything else. this is a public site that anyone can access

To be fair, some of the other forums explicitly force members to acknowledge that they're not a member of Mazdacorp and that any information gained via the forums cannot and will not be used to void warranties, used against members or the forums themselves, etc.

There are ways to protect member interests and run a good site at the same time. I have other issues with this site (to be fair, some others as well), but I'd really like to see them adopt a better way to protect their users, either as outlined above, or another way.

Everyone has to remeber the one thing about the internet that is universal and inevitable: Anything you post on the internet is forever available to be found by anyone who seeks it.

In previous employment, I fired an employee for posting a blog that was derrogatory towards the business, as well as having unwelcome romantic comments about a co-worker.

Why would he post that if he wanted to keep the job.

It sucks that claims get denied for mods. I personally think that it should not. That's why I know for sure the MAZDASPEED stuff I sell is OK, but more expensive, and the offereing is limited.

But here, and elsewhere, use common sense on the net. It is free and open to world. Don't blame M247.com, as I am sure they are not incahoots with MNAO.

You know, theres a new forum created just to combat this kind of "big site" activity and its as simple as searching for mazdaspeed forums. Why continue the battle with a site whos only interest is to go against their members, only to make money off of them, but also to sell them out to the Mazda North America Corp? Protecting your community should be priority number one..

Do you seriously think that a Mazda rep couldn't search users & posts on your forum too?

You don't need to register to view the forums...

yeha but to atleast make the statment that anything view on this privately owned site can not be used against the member of it would be enough. How hard is that to do. I've seen plenty of other sites do it but this one is shying away. Why? you can sell the parts to people but not protect them after buying them? Hell you ask a question about a part or give a view on it that just one more thing they can use against you.

huh? i know of a forum that if a mazda employee hits it, they are going to get 0wn3d... Great lengthy discussion with several attorneys and $355 consulting fee. I guess you dont know much about domain tracking...
