questions about a 6

Well i test drove the 5 door 5 speed hatch 6i and i LOVED how it handles. On performance wise it didn't just seem to have the power and pick up that i was looking for. I had the car loaded my girl, father in law and the salesman this thing is really comfortable even in the back seat and what i loved about it is that i didn't have to adjust my seat so that whoever was behind me could have sufficient leg space. I'm gonna go test drive the 6s and hope that it has the power that i'm looking for but for right now i think my #1 choice is a 6.​

For all ya 6s owners how many miles do ya get on a full tank and how many gallons to fill it up?

I looked at the radio on base model and i'm just wondering if the stock radio can be replaced with an aftermarket one? (since i'm used to my LOUD music)

How much did you pay for your 6s with or without options?

Has there been any problems with any 03-04 mazda 6i or 6s including recalls?


Also is the duratec engine on a 6s completely from Ford? I drive a probe and even thought it's a ford the engine is from mazda. The only ford i'd buy would be a truck but not no other since i know a few people that had problems with all kinds of ford models.

I am new here too, and considering buying one myself at the end of aug, but i can answer one of your questions.. Currently there is no aftermarket radio kit for the 6, if you want an aftermarket kit, you will have to be inginuitive, and create one yourself.. Also alot of people put them in the glove box, or in the compartment on the dash.

Oh yeah, the engine block is ford, the rest is mainly mazda.. heads etc etc..

I bought mah mazda6i for $27,000(sports package) I feel like i got jerked on that.

6s MTX bare bones (no options sans sports/black cloth) 19k, using Mazda S-plan, 1500 Rebate, and 250 rev-it up rebate. Technically you could get it below 19k if you used the 500 dollar grad rebate as well. (it around be around 18750). # is before fees/taxes.

i got 3500 miles since mid May and MPGs are around 21 to 24mpg

Sept/Oct. There aren't any major changes other then....

1) An extra 100 lbs (depending on model choice)
2) The option to get tinted headlights on the sedan
3) A 6sp ATX in the 6s

well, i never go below 1/4 tank, but the tank is 18 gallons, 14 gallons gone and the light comes on. I usually get around 220 miles before my light comes on. Average about 17.5mpg. If you want loud music, leave the stock head unit in and get an amp, easy enough, or do what everyone else has done, and create your own custom look.

my 6s auto came with moonroof, homelink mirror from the factory. spoiler, aftermarket leather, and tint were added by the dealer before i bought it. Got the car for 22K and 0%.

Few recalls, easily fixed though, nothing too major, other than the fan running after the car is shut down. The other major thing to check for is the "so called rust". Also, easily fixed by the dealers.

purchased at the end of May: '04 steel grey metallic 6s hatch with black cloth interior, bose, moonroof, & sidecurtain airbags....$25K OTD here in California. I got the only one in the entire state with the color & options that I specified. I used an auto broker
The only recall work was a PCM update.

If you can, wait for the '05 if you're going to get an automatic.
