Question regarding MS3 Pricing

LOL im doing the same thing im giving my cx-7 to my Dad and im getting the ms3!!! He loves the suv , im not a suv guy either but this suv is way to fun to drive LOL!!! Well like you said the old man deserves it!!

Well, just thought I'd post back with a little update in here.

For the past few weeks, I've been dealing with a dealer about 45 miles from my house. I have a Mazda dealer within walking distance from my house, but I haven't been thrilled with their service, so I don't like to go to them. Anyway, I'd been working with this other dealer, Premier Mazda, for a few weeks, talking back and forth, arguing, trying to get them down to MSRP. They didn't really show any interest in that.

This past Friday, I decided to go to another dealer, Ron Tonkin Mazda, about 60 mi from my house. They listed in their inventory a Cosmic Blue GT w/o the navigation, which is the exact trim/option combo I wanted. So, I go up there, talk to them, and find out they had just recently sold the one I wanted. Damnit!! But, at that time, they have 4 other MS3s to choose from, 2 bare bones sport models (1 black mica, 1 true red) and 2 fully loaded GTs (1 true red, forgot the other color) Anyway, I like the true red, it is similar to the Rio Red on my PGT, which I've always liked. So, just for s**** and giggles, I start talking to them about the true red sport model. I made up a little white lie that Premier Mazda had already offered to let me buy for MSRP. The guy I was talking to asked me "Why didn't you buy it?!?" I told him that I preferred the GT w/o navigation, so I thought I would give them a chance to win me as a customer. So, I sat down with the sales guy, started talking with him a bit until the sale manager came over with the figures for the car. He's showing me this paper with all sorts of additional fees and mark ups. I reiterated that I'd already been offered an MS3 Sport at Premier for MSRP, and that if he couldn't meet that offer, I wouldn't buy from him. But, if they could meet that offer, I would buy it right then an there....

Well....

....

Here it is!

I apologize for the picture. I didn't get home until late Friday night, then I had to work today, so I've only been able to get some pics in the dark. I got a couple cool ones of the interior. I love the blue accent lighting around the gauges. It looks great in person, and it shows up great in pictures :)

In any case, like I said, its a sport model with no options, and I bought it for $23,070 OTD. Basically, MSRP plus title and licensing fees. I was very happy with the service of Ron Tonkin. Every other dealer I'd been to (including non-Mazda dealers) didn't seem to take me even remotely seriously. They treated me like I was a kid who just wanted to go for a joy ride, where the reality was that if they would have treated me right and gave me the deal I wanted, I would have bought right on the spot. Ron Tonkin was the first dealer to treat me like an adult and give me the deal I wanted, so I bought the car the first time I'd ever stepped foot into the door. :) Really, my experience with them could not have been better. I'm thinking I will write them a letter of praise, which I never do.

I'm just thrilled with it so far. I haven't had much chance to test out the handling, but the power makes me grin ear to ear every time.

Anyway, just thought I would share and let you know that I'm now a happy owner of an MS3!!

I expect deals to be harder to come by in warmer climtes, but come on! Argunig for MSRP? That's unbelievable? I live in Twin Cities MN and the one-price dealerships have $1500 mark downs on the GT's. That means even better deals can be had. They'll even do S-Plan at this point, which is about 2k off MSRP on a GT (no nav, 1-2 options). What's a plane ticket to MN cost? Not to rain on your parade. Congrats on your car! I wish I had one (my better half wants me to wait), but to read about stealerships pulling this....damn!

I haven't found out anything with the dealers around my area, but i hope to god i can get even close to what you are saying

ouch1101 - i recognize the name from Probetalk, anyways im a former
94 mx-6, 95 PGT, and 93 mx-6 owner.

Ya the price was a bit to shell out but heres what i think of the car.
It drives great, super passing speed, great cornering and overall fun to drive.
Gas mileage is worse then the old cars, city driving at lower speeds is kinda bad with the million shifts you have to make. But otherwise no big gripes.

As for up here in Canada its a pricey car. for me i paid about 30000$ + Tax thats 1000 under msrp

lol im a bit late in the posting here.

Anyways hope your happy with it.

I recognize your name as well.

I'm very happy with the car so far. It is so much faster than the Probe. I miss the rev-range, tho. Winding the Probe out to 7500rpm was fun. But, this thing makes so much power from 2200rpm on, you don't really need to rev it that high. But, if they make a re-tune to keep the throttle from closing at higher RPMs, I'll be all over it :)

As far as the deals, there is no way any dealer around here would advertise prices below MSRP. Of the dealers I went to, 1 had a $5000 mark-up, 1 had a $5500 markup, and the one I bought from had a $4000 mark up. So, I don't feel bad at all for getting it for MSRP.

wow thats fing nuts 5G`s over sticker!!! I went in and said to the guy quite frankly that i would pay whatever the price would be for them to make 1000$ of the sale. And they said sure!

Well hope you love hte car and there are already some good mods out there from the sounds of it like that engine managment thing i think from xede.

Do you still have the PGT? i still drive my mx-6 but i think i might have it sold now but i kinda dont want to, i love the old girl lol

I still have the PGT, but it is for sale. I'm doing a few things to it in order to get it ready to sell, but its just sitting in the garage till then.

BTW, I've got my window sticker that says they want a $4000 "Market Adjustment" and $300 to etch a security code on all the windows. I didn't pay any of that :) After all there additional junk, the sticker price was aboot $27k. And that is USD (boom07)

Hey assman, where abouts in Canada are you? The dealer here in Vancouver told me every dealer around is selling for MSRP.

Thanks. (drinks)

Im on Ottawa, and i only checked one dealer and the guy that sold me the car was ex military and im in the army. SO it may have helped since we both have the same no bbbulshit attitude. Maybe come spring there will be no budging on the price but i got it over xmas break. Plus they had 4 to start and are still stuck with one. They couldnt even sell all of them. My guess is they dont realize how hot this car is everywhere else.

I noticed the VIN etching got snuck in on my build sheet after I had signed it. I told the dealer I'm not paying for that. My insurance company doesn't even cut a break for it and if the car gets stolen, who gives a rats ass if you get your windows back. After the deductable insurance replaces all that stuff anyway. Total BS.

Ha, You guys are too funny. I just put a deposit on a MS3 that was sold to me for a few hundred below MSRP after taxes.. (sssh)

Picked up a CWP GT yesterday from Maple Shade Mazda in Turnersville, NJ for $23,652 (MSRP was $24,890), plus TTF's. Registration was $82, tire recycling fee was $7.50, which is some bull$hit NJ thing on new cars now, doc fee was $180 and tax was $1,655.64 (7%). So out the door was $25,577.14. I pick it up on Tuesday. They also gave me their Customer Care Club membership, which includes free oil changes at factory intervals for as long as I own the car (and a few other things not worth mentioning). The salesman said they usually don't give you that unless you pay MSRP. Overall, I'm happy with the deal. I'm sure I could have haggled another few hunded bucks off, but it wasn't worth it to me. I like going into a dealer and literally walking out less than an hour later with a good deal on the car without any bit of getting jerked around.
