Don't you have high compression pistons? If so then what kind of sound differences do you notice when driving? (from the engine that is) Also what kind of power increases do you notice? Also one last question is, do you know how much it would normally cost to get pistons put in?

Yes, I am running the high compression pistons. The engine sound seemed to be deeper in the low rpms and have a slightly higher note from 4500 on up to 6000. As far as power goes, I would say I picked up 10 horses and a signifigant amount of low end torque. I am going to install a turbo timer soon (not for a turbo of course), but it tells you 0-60 times and 1/4 miles stuff so I should get some feel for gains in real world applications soon.
I paid my mechanic $350 for the install which took about a day and a half due to a stuck wrist pin.

To me it was totally worth it. If your going the NA route its a must. Chdesign has done the most with an NA set up and has produced about 150 whp, which isn't that much but is as much WHP as a MSP. According to SCC mag anyway. And really, thats all I want and can expect out of this car/engine. Unless you go turbo though. So just find out what your realisitc goals are and go from there.
I can hook you up with the pistons if you like. Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Moose

yes, thanks a lot, my goals are for 200 fwhp NA that is. I think this is very realistic. How much would it cost a regular mechanic because didn't you say your mechanic hooked you up? I am staying NA because i feel that it is first of all cheaper, plus it is definately sweet if you can beat an MSP without a turbo.

If you want to get into the 200's you should start saving your pennies, and start talking to the guys running the World Challenge touring cars.

200 at the flywheel shouldn't be hard at all i mean the j-spec motor has 170 or 160, so all i would have to do is get the intake manifold, pistons and cams, and i will be running 160. Then you play around with a new ECU, some headers, air intake which i already have, port and polish the intake manifold, unorthodox crank pulley, new ignition syster, and with a little more tuning i should be running close to 200 at the flywheel
