ok my parents bought me my first car, my yellow p5, and i was just wondeering, how did you guys work out the payments. i still pay insurance, which is 2600 a year for me, and any mods i want, i have to work for that money. but i was just wondering how you guys got your cars. im not bragging or anything, its just my parents always tell me im spoiled, and i was curious how many of you are in teh same position.

Yes you are spoiled. I am 20 and have to make the car payment and 3000 every 6mos insurance. All in all I pay about 730 a month total for my car. Just get a good job.

wow 3000 every 6 months on insurance, i thought i was the only person on earth that paid that much. When i got my P5 i was 20 and i was paying $711 a month on car/insurance payment, when i turned 21 my insurance payment dropped making my total car/insurance payment only $611 a month. Yes i pay it all on my own since day 1, must be nice to be spoiled.

I've been quoted at $11,000 every six months for insurance. That's only with 2 at fault, 1 not at fault, and 1 careless driving ticket.:(

my parents just bought me my first car at 16, the black p5. they paid for it at a discount my dad got, and they pay insurance. i pay for gas and whatever mods i want to do, which will probably only be a stereo. this may seem spoiled, but i also have a 4.6 gpa in high school, all honors classes, and i dont give my parents s***. im a pretty good kid, so they wouldnt have given it to me if i did bad in school or smoked pot or drank or anything like that. not trying to brag, just trying to make my point. by the way, my dad still claims its his car and that he just allows me to drive it;)

let me guess....you ride a bicycle right?

holy crap...$11k for insurance...that's quite a lot...well here's my situation, when we first got the p5 i paid about $9k of it which is the majority of the car since we paid about $16k total with taxes and other charges...my parents agreed to pick up the rest since i've pretty much taken care of college myself...but i have to pay for gas, maintenance, etc...yeah...the $9k was a huge chunk of my savings but it was totally worth it...

I get no help from my parents. I pay For the car myself and isurance is $135 a month. Just having a good paying job is all it takes ohh I pay about $420 a month for the car. Not to mention all those damm students loans.

Man, I can't believe that!!!!! 3000 for 6 months!!! I got my P5 at 23 and it cost me about 1700$ CAN a year for me and my GF. My parent only lent me 1000$ for my cash down so I could be accepted by the credit people. I just finished school when I bought it with a crappy 8$/hr job (at Honda)

yeah very similar to my situation. I got mine when i was 17, but i really didn't get to drive it to the summer when i was 18, and I graduated from high school. kind of sucks because we bought it back in march and summer is like...may/june, so it kind of sat in my garage for awhile. i too may seem spoiled, but i worked my ass off in high school, graduated #10 in my class, never gave my parents any s***, and i basically paid for everything i ever wanted (less the car), but everything else i pay for. I'd say i earned my car, i got a full ride to college plus extra money back for my "college spending purposes" which i use to help pay for gas, cell phone bill, some insurance, and whatever else i need. I don't think anyone is spoiled unless they act like an ass and get whatever they want without earning it.

Ehh, I had a 4.33 in high school, wonderful SAT's, etc, etc, full-ride scholarship to college, was an all-around good kid.. and I still had to buy my first (and second) ride ('88 Taurus and '89 Accord).

$11k for insurance is insane. I have one at fault accident on my record (rear ended a brand new BMW M3.. doh!), and my insurance is still under $300/6 months. Shop around different companies.. of course, some areas of the nation are just insanely expensive. A friend of mine pays about $200/6 months on his car.. if he moved to San Antonio, TX, he'd be paying just shy of $1,000 (same insurance company and everything).

Hi, I bought my car when I was 20 (which I still am) and I pay $300 month for it plus $130 for insurance. I have 2 moving violations on my record. It's all under my name to, I think you guess need to find a new insurance company!

lets just say, my parents were making up for my childhood. i'm the youngest and was not a bit spoiled...everything i ever got was second-hand from my brother or sister...but anyway...just be proud of your accomplishments... :D *aplauds*

just be happy you have a great car!!! :D and a great life!!!

my parents were really nice to pick up the rest of my car...i think they felt sorry for me when the dealership only offered me $100 for my other car trade in...but my first car (85 oldsmobile) i did pay for myself...lol

I had to buy my truck and my car. I bought my truck when I was 15, while working at an irrigation company, paid for all items added, then got the new car fever and got me a P5, which I am 19, and paying for now, only my mom co-signed with me. I pay the insurance on my truck and my car. Now I rebuild cylinder heads.

That's not something I'd be bragging about. It makes me feel good as hell that I'm paying for this all by myself. On average how many 20yo have a good enough job to even think about paying for a new car, insurance, gas, etc.

my car

Im 17 now.. i got my car about a month before i turned 17.. Its under my parents name because im not old enough to buy a new car. I make all the car payments and pay all the gas.. my parented USED to pay for insurance but i recently got 2 tickets so now i get to look at my p5 sitting on the street and still make payments on it. I dont think that im spoiled. Especialy since its my fault i got the tickets and they arent just shrugging it off and paying the tickets and extra in insurance that its gunna cost. I pay about 500 a month to look at my car. Wow i sound like such a loser..

Spoiled people are like this guy i know at school. He is 16, comes home with at least 3 speeding tickets a month.. and his parents pay the tickets, car, gas, insurance... and are now buying him a brand new BMW M5, i guess as reward for his bad grades or something..

Im 19 and bought my car November of 2001 when I was 18. I pay $397 a month and $190 full coverage on the P5 and the Z24 with my wife on it. So that would be $587 a month for the car. And I also pay for all the mods that go into the cars, plus credit cards, and all that other BS. Also the damn rent, but we recently moved back into my parents house to get rid of the payments. All i can say is stay with your parents as long as you can!!!! Trust me, its hard on your own when your young. Unless you have a bad-ass paying job.
