question for all the young P5 owners, like 20 and below.

I got my car and insurance all by myself, insurance was 3600k a yr (can) got sick of paying that and just the policy under my dad as first drive, went down to only 1800 a yr (cad) so i am a really happy camper :) it's hard work but worth it ;)

daddy bought mine for me. i pay 2400 a year for insurance, and buy all the gas and oil and stuff like that.

i bought my mp3 myself, still owe about 6000 on it, my parents split the insurance with me, only b/c im under their plan and its so high b/c they have nice cars which i am insured under too. (audi/Benz) i pay for all my gas, oil, mods. i've bout all my cars i ve had. 87 cavilier, 97 dakota, 2001 mp3 i ve been working since i was about 14 and i save all my money. oh yeah im 19 now and in college so working alot of hours is tough i work about 30hrs a week, but in the summer i work 50hrs a week to make up for it. It feels good knowing that you bought your own car, it gives u a lot more respect for it.

bought the car at 21 and my insurance is about 1200 a year. screw monthly payments, you pay more that way.

paying up!

i bought my own car making payments 270 a mo, with insurance 211 a mo. parents helped with the cosign, but thats all they do! i am 21, i work and go to school. my first car was an '86 Chevy Celebrity GT complete with wing and racing stripes. and if you can find one of those Celebrity GT's, you are a lucky bastard!

im glad my first one was an older car, taught me responsibility, and to appreciate this pro5 and my ride and budget my money. i am still having trouble budgeting because i buy mods with my credit card..... so in a sense i spoil myself. :wtf: but in the end arent i still paying for it anyway! damned if you do, damned if you dont! :'(

i'll have to post pics sometime of that elusive Celebrity GT..........

how about an 87 cutlass ciera gt 2 door, v6 auto on the floor, black with silver ground effects, handling package? hated that car when we bought it, but now i kinda miss it :) my mom's, totalled a year ago after some b**** rear ended her. this is a hard cookie to find.

if u want cheaper insurance rates ... especially if you are like below 21 and just started driving.... ask an asian friend to reccomend u some agent in chinese places or smoething like that.... they give great rates...... compared to other places that I've asked around

...

I'm 19 and I got my protege5 because I applied for a loan at my credit union and i was accepted. I pay 310 a month and since i'm 19 and have balls, i pay 320 a month for insurance, which sux. I didn't realize my insurance would jump that damn high just because my car is a 2002 rather than my old 89 240sx.

my parents paid for it in full, it was my bday present.. but i am wokring on paying them back in full when i get nuff money, i work 4 jobs right now 1FT 2 PT 1 casual. and i still can't get nuff money since i have to pay for school too.. bah.. money is dumb.. everything should be free

All my life my mother has worked for Ford. All my friends had parents whose jobs gave them awesome perks, for example one kid's dad worked for Duracell and he got all the free batteries he wanted. Another kid's dad worked for Gillette and he got free Mach 3 razors and stuff. Anyway, I was always bummed because I was thinkin', what am I gonna get a free car? Hell no, I'm not.

Well this past spring Ford offered my mom a retirement package and whatdya know, part of the package was 25k that she could use to buy a new car. She gets to keep her company car for life, so she really had no need of that money and it otherwise would have gone to waste so she says to me, "Brett, you want a new car?" Well, heck, ya can't beat that one.

So I start lookin' for what's available in the 18k range (25k isn't really 25k after taxes and title, etc.) in a stick with a hatchback that is made by Ford. It came down to the Focus wagon or the P5... yeah, not much of a choice there. Now I know a lot of you are upset about Ford's management of Mazda, but I'm sure as hell glad they own a controlling share because that meant that I could get a P5!

So to answer your question, I got mine for free!!!

The 'rents pay for insurance, but I pay gas and maintenance. Guess that's a perk of being a full time student.

DAMN!

thats pretty damn tight! as much as i hate ford that freaking rules! are they hiring???

if i had 25k, put that as a down payment on RX-8! thats awesome dude! your parents are cool.

i just hope i have enough money to pay my payments, with my hours being cut and all! guess i'll have to sell drugs or rob a bank! lol

selling drugs......taht has crossed my mine a efw times.....naw just kidding....well i just got my p5 traded my truck in and put 2500 down...i make the payments i provided the down payment....my mom pays insurance.....i also have to pay rent because i go to college....poor starving college students.....with nice cars!!!!
