question and need help

i have a mazda protege and it has auto shift knob. now i was to change it in to a sportshift knob. how can i do that ? i now i need a mp5 ecu. but what else to i need. please someone or some ppls help a mazda driver out please.

Yea, i agree....just save your money for the next car. cause you're gonna need to find the "sportshift" transmission and ECU. then you're gonna have to spend the money to swap out the transmissions....

i saw in 95blkprobe's thread you said "is 200 plus 35 for shipping. only shipping wife just give birth can leave the house. 2.25 pipe and the tip is 4.5 "

Just in my opinon....

if you're looking and finding prices for a transmission swap, just as in your case...you're wanting to know what else is needed to go from a "auto shift knob (auto transmission)" to a "sportshift knob (sportshift transmission.)"

you're trying to find out what you need to buy to make this happen...which you are "preparing" for the mod so you can "execute" to make it happen. and if you're just asking to ask and not execute....that's kind of a waste of time cause in the future 3-6mths to 1yr+ from now...labor charges might go up or the parts might go up.

but....that's just MY opinion.

you would need the ecu and tranny. you may also need a diff wiring harness as well as diff tranny mounts. if you plan on swapping, i would just swap to a 5 speed if anything. i swapped from atx to mtx on my probe about a month and a half ago and so far was the best thing i have done to that car.

the tranny is not different, you need the shifter and you need the shift mechanism on the tranny, you need to open the tranny and swap em out

i'd definitely agree to do auto to manual swap...not a auto to auto with "sportshift" swap...makes no sense.

but more importantly, he just said his wife gave birth....why "potentially/tentatively" spend $1k+ on something for the car...(hand)

Forget it. You will have expenses you never thought of... The days of selfishly spending money on mods are pretty much over for awhile...
