question about DP

no but it would be good to have one..or atleast a dashawk and some gauges..ull get more power with a tune!

your car will relearn how it is supposed to run if you unplug your battery for a few mins. but it can only make adjustments to a point. get an ems. like posted it will allow you to get the most out of it.

You going catted or catless? A tune would help either way, but I'd recommend the catted one. It's a bit more, but your turbo will thank you for it.

like zinger said...as long as you disconnect the batery and let the ecu re-learn the new added air flow you should be fine without a tune for the time being.

Well, I had the dp installed and along with the smoking, I noticed that I have in fact lost power. It's not as torquie as it was and just seems to be slower all around. My car is stock with the exception of the down pipe and my bov. Any ideas? And my turbo is gonna hate me I went catless.
Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Did you disconnect the battery yet? Give it a few miles and see how it responds.

Yes it was disconnected, and I've driven approx 20 miles. Any thoughts? I have a Cobb AP and A Fujita CAI but I havent Installed them yet.
I just don't want to ........ Zoom Zoom...BOOM!
at least not yet hehe.

I'm a little gun shy to install the AP. The last time it was installed it fried my ECU. At some point I guess I have to Install it. But I'm Sketched out. any other Ideas? anyone else have the same prob?

ohh i see. i guess i would be hesitant as well.

i've got no more help :(

this might not affect anything, but i thought i would just throw it out there.

could there possibly be an exhaust leak?

i think its going to take more then 20 miles to let the car figure itself out... i noticed that when i try to reset my ecu i need to leave it off for a few mins, untill the clock resets, then i know it has worked for sure. just a few seconds did not do anything for me.

OP, do you have a Dashhawk? I know you said your AP fried your ECU, what exactly happened? Did Cobb fix the issue?

No, No DashHawk. And Cobb didn't fix the issue, my Mazda factory warranty did. I got a new ECU installed at the dealership. have you herd of anyone else's AP frying the ECU? (Other than me of course)

I've heard of them bricking the ECU if you disconnect the cable during a flash, but other than that, no. Pretty wild, glad to hear ya got it fixed though.

Thanks, now if I could only figure out this DP problem. I drove to work today (30 mi) and I noticed a "rumble" or almost a scraping sound under my feet and a "gurgle" kinda in the glove box since the DP install. Is this normal? I hear it mostly when im slowing down in gear. kind of a "gurgle" or shaking noise any Ideas?

check all of the bolts make sure everything is tight..im thinking what your hearing is where the DP meets up with the 2nd cat section of the exhaust, one of the bolts could be loose so while driving it may be allowing the exhaust to have some play and the gurgle noise is the exhaust leaking out because of the bolts being loose and the flanges arent sealed right...
