there is this guy on irc that is arguing that mazda and ford and ford is mazda. i always thought that mazda still made their own cars even thought ford owned part of them. is there anything that i can say to prove to this guy that mazda makes their own cars? he's dissing me cuz i told him that i was buying a msp and he's bragging about his pontiac.

ford owns mazda, but our cars our almost 100% japanese parts, but i heard that in the future (ex: 2004 models and up) mazda cars will be ford parts/ or american parts. But i could be wrong.

Yeah, just like Mercedes is Dodge and Dodge is Mercedes. They're all the same, right? I could give you ridiculous examples until I'm blue in the face. I mean, c'mon, don't try to argue with the moron.

Krillin: Keep cool man!

This guy's BRAGGING about a PONTIAC! (loser)
Or is it a Toyota/Pontiac, er, I mean a Vibe. In that case, it's not even as nice as a Pro5!

Just wait til he sees your new MSP! He'll probably make a lot of noise, but inside he's gonna be dying! :D :D :D

Mazda is not Ford!
Ford owns only 1/3rd of Mazda, they share designs when benifical for each company but are not the same.
It is not similar to a Honda- Acura relationship, If you think it is then you probably failed the analogy part of the SATs.

yeh this guy didn't even know what it was. he thought i was talking about the rx-8 and he was dissing it. irc.enterthegame.com #nyx

this guy's name is BROKEN

dexter u poopdick. why do u keep leaving and joining?

..maybe if you stay on for more than fricken 2 secs!!#!@#@!#

Well one area of common parts is the new 6s... The 3.0l V6 is Ford's Duratec straight out of the Taurus, with variable valve timing added on.... A MUCH better engine with the Mazda spin, I'd say ;)

All jokes aside, this is something that concerns us "import" only buyers. I had a Ford....NEVER will I ever do that again.

The 6 is a Mazda design. But Ford builds the engines.....now, that's a pretty major part of the car. Isn't quite the same as sharing some door handles or even a frame. Now while everything I've read so far states that the block is the only thing Ford, and everything else in the engine is still Mazda, I had such a bad experience with Ford, as have most my friends with Fords, that even scares me

Then there's the Mazda 3 to be. Sharing a lot with the Focus. A car I care NOTHING about, nor do I care to put any of my money towards. I may feel the same way about the 3 yet.

From a design point, I like the direction Mazda is going in. But I don't like that their relationship with Ford is getting stronger.

From what I heard the next 3 will include an all Mazda designed turbo engine. THe Duratech to my knowledge has proved a very reliable engine and mazdas best bet since they had no V6 worth a damn not to mention the drive train they had, other then the RX-8 couldn't hold even 200 hp.

Can't argue with that.

Ford owns 33% of Mazda and yes we do share designs and some platforms but contrary to what some peaple think we are using less of their product and more of our own. The new I4 engine (in the 6) is totally a Mazda design and we will be selling it to Ford for the Focus. The only platform we currectly share with Ford is the Tribue/Escape. and trucks. And other than the trucks we use the V-6 engine. The Mazda6, RX8 and the new Mazda3 are all Mazda designs and have very little Ford influence.

You are correct that the relationship between Mazda and Ford is gaining distance.

I know all too well the relationship - my beloved MX-6 has the same engine as a Probe GT.

However, some of the inner workings at Mazda display tell-tale signs. The best example is the development and production of the RX-8.

Ford did NOT want Mazda to pursue another rotary engine, especially in light of the reliability problems of the Wankel rotary and general failure of the 3rd gen RX-7.

NOTE: I am not dissing the RX-7, I'm just saying it is NOT an "everyman's" car. It is clearly best driven by a motorsports enthusiast who has the knowledge and inclination to properly maintain a sports car. Just trying to head off any flames from RX-7 owners. :)

Mazda Japan and Mazda USA have ensured the integrity of Mazda going into the future - most importantly, as it relates to engineering and design pursuits.

Sweet, I hope you are a real "insider" - welcome to the board, and stay anonymous, and stay low to avoid flying debris (i.e. used bushings!).

Hey, everyone be nice to "insider"!!

Hmmm, I thought the Mazda 6 engine was shared with the new European Mondeo (which is a sweet car, BTW).

They buld the Mazda and the ford Pick up

Here in Edison, NJ
Out of the same plant, there are parked side by side.
Mazda trucks and Ford....:bs:
If Ford owns anymore part of Mazda.
I will never buy it again.
Ford cars suck, I had one and nothing but problems. It would be the down fall of Mazda to add any parts of ford into there line.
guarantied that part would all ways fail. I am sorry ford rep is very bad.

thanks for the info guys. that moron hasn't said anything since.
oh dexter, you still think the rx-8 sucks? :o
