Mine is a Cobra microTalk PR 240-2 its a GMRS/FRS two-way radio. I bought it for $15 as a thanksgiving special. You can buy some uniden 2 mile radius radios for about $20 and if you want 5 mile radius it will be around $40-$50. Just make sure they are GMRS/FRS compatable...which most are.
OK, count me in. What's the deal about bringing wives/friends? I assume we'd need to pay a little extra for food and such. And any reccomendations for tires? I've got to get a set of track tires anyway, I was thinking of Azenis, but I could step up to some Hoosiers.

As far as tires go. If you're using real road course Hoosiers, I'd advise against it. You won't have enough time for them to heat up. If you use the ones made for autocross (AS303 I think), then they should be alright. I've always used Azenis on this course and this will be my first time using something else...

Just one question : Why do you say there won't be enough time to heat-up XXX tires....?
Are they a hard compound, or is it that we're expected to do no more than -let's say- 5 to 8 laps each time...?
How much is usually a good set-up of road-racing tires in 19" (very low profile...) ?

Being that several of the people signing up have little to no course experience, we want to keep it as simple as possible.
I think Cory and I decided that each run would consist of 3 laps. That still allows at least 6-10 runs provided everything moves relatively smoothly.
I've only seen Hoosiers up to 18" and those are going to run you $250-$350 each depending on the width and the height.

Ok, now that we're about full, here's the deal. I need $20 by January 10th. If you are too far for me or Cory to reach you in person, you can PM me to work something out. I often drive to Orlando, Tampa and occasionally Vero Beach and Daytona. So if you can meet me at one of those places or along the way, that'd be great. If you're on the Official list and still aren't sure, I need to know as soon as you do whether or not you're down for this.
And if we can't get the pre-registration fee by Jan 10, you're spot goes up to the next person on the Tentative. If they get me the money before you, they get your spot. I know this sounds unfair, but keep in mind that if you can't make this event, there will likely be more (provided everything moves smoothly at this one).
If all goes well with this event, I'd like to set these up 3-4 times a year so everyone can get a shot at it.
One final note, the $20 pre-registration fee is refundable ONLY up until January 17th. I can't have people bailing at the last minute, leaving me with extra expenses.
