Protege High Mileage Club

2001 Protege ES
somewhere around 154,000- starts first time every time, just a little rusty.

So I am assuming that a 160,000 mile 2001ES should have no issue going over 200,000 miles? Cause until I can get enough money to replace it it will be that way. Mainly hiway miles and synthetic oil (looses some but doesnt seen to be burning any). I stay under 3,000 rpm and do my best to hypermile it.

what they said. i will be hitting 200k miles on mine before the end of June, and it still runs fantastic. i don't baby it either.

I'm at 158k or something like that. With everything it's been through I'm surprised it's lasted this long. Motors are aparently more durable than people thought

Most of these are miles correct? Sorry i am from ontario haha

I have 222,000 km so 137,944 miles on mine, got it 4 months ago, no engine problems and been doign oil changes every 4k km

Hoping to keep it for a long time, i see a lot of people have much higher mileage so i hope this is a good sign :)

Yep I am hoping for the best.It runs very strong and doesnt seem to burn any oil even at load. Does seem to use a certain amount of oil and then stop. Even if I use heavy weight oil it does the same so am am fairly sure it isnt going past the rings or valve seals. Thinking it might be a leak from the front seal. It never looses more than 1/2 quart of oil! Is this a common issue?

Yeah... the way the PCV is run, it tends to use a little oil. They all do it.
