I'm hesitant to do the timing belt on mine since the body is falling apart.

If people think rusted hoods are cool... they should see my whole car!

ditto. i'm approaching 200k miles, and i'm not looking forward to replacing the timing belt again. :(

I've got crappy signal here in the building at work so I can't easily upload to Flickr. I'm working on it tho.

The fsde is listed as an interference motor and there have been people that bent valves from the belt breaking. How likely it is that it will is up for debate just stating facts not starting a debate. But seriously 168k on the stock belt? Amazing

Yeah... but it sounds like the thermostat just went on it. Gotta head to Pittsburgh some day soon to check it out.

215k... last timing belt was done at 90k ish I think.. I dunno, (shrug) its fine. And IIRC Mazda has never built a "valve bender" interference motor.. at least not in the severity of lets say a DSM. Can it happen? Sure, but will it essplode like a 4G63, nope.

With an FS-DE, a rod will go before the timing belt... ;)

LMAO... Pssh. That engine is held together with bubblegum, paperclips and childrens tears.. What more do you need?? ;)
