Hi fellows, it seem like the www.protegegarage.com site is not online anymore.

The fact is that I have been tryin to reach Ken at his email, just because I received an invoice from FedEx for the headers. They are charging me $59.61 CAD, for some customs s***...

Ken never replied me, but I remember he had a phone number on the site. Does anyone remember it or has it somewhere? It would be appreciated to fix this. I know Ken is a good guy; he made such a great work for the headers, I'm sure everyone agrees!

So, please help me out, because I paid for what I was asked on the forum for my OBX headers. Extra fees are not really necessary!

THANX to all!!!

CHEERS :D

Not Ken's fault..
you always have to pay customs with anything coming over the border..used or new it doesnt matter. Customs/brokerage/canadian tax..they nab you with it all..all you can do is suck it up and pay it..
Everything I have ever ordered from the U.S. has always had another bill attached to it. For future reference..I've found U.S. Postal service-Canada Post is the cheapest.
Your lucky it didnt come UPS!! Big fee's!

yep always happens. im sure you can get a hold of ken but his business is now closed down.

You can say Thank You to the Canadian Government. Anything you purchase from The USA does not include customs unless the vendor told you they would take care of it.

So much for free trade ,I know how you feel ,everytime that i have order stuff for the States and it wasnt sent via the post office i got a bill for customs and handling charges. The post office only ever charged me 5 bucks plus gst .

Ask them to send it as a gift
Even as a gift ,if you use a courier to ship you will be billed on the value of the gift . you pay the handling ,GST ,PST and any other charges that they want to add.

yep, its the duties charge... it has nothing to do with protegegarage.com. We've also closed down for good, thanks for your buissness.

Also post this in Vendor Reviews... This section is for help on with the site itself.

No of the people I have shipped ground kits to in Canada have mentioned this. I only ship USPS going international though.

Duties and customs can only be legally charged when a product is not made in North America - this is how Free Trade works. When a product is either labelled as "Made in USA/Mexico/Canada" or has NO label at all, the Canadian Border Services cannot legally charge you duties/customs. they CAN, however, charge you GST/PST.

If you used FedEx, UPS or DHL, they usually charge you brokerage fees. Brokerage fees are whatever they want to charge.. i've been charge with a 35% brokerage fee, after I tore the cashier a new anus, I paid, but will NEVER EVER deal with UPS again.

If they ever try to charge you for customs on something made in the US, threaten to bring them to court, they'll drop the fees on the spot.

I've brought over about $5000 worth of electronics and car parts over the border in the past 2 years... I've never been hit with customs. If you're getting something shipped over the border, use USPS and Canada Post, they will not screw you over as they are both gov't run (CP is a Crown Corp.). They will charge you taxes, but that's just part of living in TaxLand.
