Protege Alarm / Starter / Turbo Timer Wire Colors

thanks to your sticky.... installed my Greddy TT without any hiccups.

For those that have a Greddy TT, here is a useful little diagram i made up, so there's no confusion. Ground wire, just pick any bolt or bare metal and ground it there.

how long (read: difficult for a n00b) would it take for a n00b like me to install an OEM alarm system? from what i've read its plug-n-play. will i have to remove body/interior panels?

The OEM alarm is honestly not worth the money unless it was free. Have you already purchased it?

If you have, you will end up taking apart at least the dash panel under the steering column, and possibly more, as with any alarm.

The OEM alarms I've put in are very plug and play, though, to answer your question.

i didn't see it anywhere in this post but i was able to get the info from chopstickhero and casapolis. but i think you should also add that pin 58 on the ecu is for the speed sensor if hooking up a turbo timer.

thanks

Thanks, but its already in there :D

Speed Sensor aka VSS, orange or green/red (Confirmed as violet/red on a 2003 P5 by shareef777) , N/A, pin 58 on ECM

have a diagram where its located?

Nope, there is only one. Or atleast only should be. The first and last pin of each row is numbered

I have been asked frequently how to install the neutral safety wire from the tranny into the remote start....and its very simple, there is no need for relays or anything like that...just two simple diodes. Guys dont make it harder for you, simply run the neutral wire (pink/green) which supplies +12v when in gear to the alarm +brake kill input wire. This will make the remote start think that someone is pressing the brake pedal so it wont crank...or if the car is running already it will kill it if someone puts it in gear. The only back draw is that you need a pair of diodes to isolate the two circuits, so when you put the car in gear, your brake light wont come on.

pardon for the childish graphic, hehehe.

PS-also you dont need two relays to wire the door locks. At least I had mine without relays for 2 years.

Pirana, you are making that WAY to complex. The Neutral safety wire is a negative trigger (ground) when in neutral, so all you have to do is connect it directly to the neutral safety lead of most any remote starter. Anything DEI built atleast, looks for a ground signal on the neutral wire so a direct connection is all that is required. The tranny will take care of the rest as when in any gear, it will not show ground on the neutral wire.

I think you are refering to the neutral safety switch under the dash, that one only tells the car that you are pressing the clutch pedal to let the car start...the pink/green wire actually tells the ECU, that the car is in gear.

Vic, both the clutch trigger, and the transmission neutral trigger trip to ground. the pink/green wire tell the car that its not in gear by providing a ground when in neutral

Ryan is correct.
The Neutral safety wire from the tranny goes directly to the ECu and provides a ground when in nuetral which is exactly what the nuetral saftey wire of a remote starter is looking for. The clutch wire must be tricked to all the car to start aswell. I have a relay scematic of how to do that on the opening post of this thread.

I know exactly what you are saying...but since the Compustars dont have neutral safety switch input(-), this is one way of wiring it. ;)

That works too Ryan, but 2 diodes are easier to install. (rei)
