Protecting our cars, especially when boosting

ok so has anyone noticed our engine gets really hot, really fast? I'm currently considering water/alcohol injection and was wondering if anyone was already doing the same thing or considering it. I know how it works, the benefits, etc, just wondering the exact effects anyone has seen on an msp or very similar application

All engines get hot, I personally haven't noticed the MSP engine getting too much hotter then any other engines (especially turbo engines).

I don't do long high-speed runs though, that may cause room for concern.

Just get an AWR radiator, slimline fans and a FMIC. Those mods will greatly reduce heat.

have u removed the weatherstripping from the back of the hood...it will help a little with under hood temps...

Don't worry guy...

If you are really concerned about engine temp try this before spending $$$$$$ on rads and stuff. Find the thermostat and modify it to open sooner.

Just a thought. The motor does get warm, but not really warmer than other cars in this class do, like WRX etc...

There isn't much need for concern.

Like was said above, If you are really worried don't make acceleration test passes to 120 MPH for 0. Anytime the turbo would be at max boost... Wide Open Throttle... is when the car will load heat in a surge. Mazda has designed the car and warranted it. They are happy with it, perhaps you could be too.

i agree...now when u turn up the boost thats a different story.
this car may not be the most tunable in the world, but it's a pretty good car stock for the money

it does heat up rather quickly, but it runs no hotter than it should. Although if I had the coin, I would do the rad upgrade and FMIC as mentioned earlier.

probably gonna do fmic and alcohol injection eventually, the injection should be good for an extra 3-5psi once I have my boost controller

what ya gonna do when the fluid injection runs empty ??? still remember scc bitchin when they forgot to fill thier project si's water injection tank during the si shootout back in the day .... hahaha...anyway fluid injection is cool for the strip.....but i like somehting more consistant and always workin

well I'll probably fabricate some sort of gauge for inside the car to let me know the fluid level, but at any rate, I'm only putting in water which can be bought for about $0.25 per gallon at any grocery store

Not a slam...

Corkey Bell wrote a book called Maximum Boost. It has become a bible in the world of spooled engines. He made a point on injectors.

"Injectors are a band-aid solution to an underlying design problem"

If you get a FMIC you will not need an injector. Good luck in your quest for Boost...
