prosport boost gauge.

well my wiring is not figured out. On the sending unit there is only a RED and WHITE. I'm just assuming that they go to the RED and WHITE wires on the back of the gauge. and that leaves me with a BLACK, ORANGE and a GREEN coming out of the back of the gauge. and maybe the WHITE to WHITE and the RED to RED is not right IDK. i just really want to get things clarified. thanks

There should be a black wire out of the sending unit.
Red is always power
Black is alwasy ground
white from the sending unit attatches to green coming out of gauge

just look at my post 2 things up . . . .

Alright so we've got wiring figured out but I was just wondering where everyone runs the wires through the firewall. Also, which vacuum line do you guys T off of for the boost senson. If you could show pics, that's be great.

Punta Gorda lol . . . boooooring . . . sorry i had to.

Anyway you can find all this info from searches but the vacuum line most people T off is the one right off the bypass valve. Just chop it in half.

As for running wires . . . people do all sorts of various methods. I chose a way without drilling holes though. Follow your hood release cable under your steering wheel. You will need a flashlight cuz its way up in there. It sticks into the wall with a rubber grommet. Pop the grommet in or out. Dont worry you can stick it back in when ur done. Next after you made that hole you need to remove part of the splash guard on drivers side. You dont have to completely remove it but just unscrew the top part of it because you will be feeding the wire through there. Just feed your wires through there and they will feed right into the engine bay. You will probably need a cheap metal coathanger and a friend to help you feed the wires through.

You can also just follow the hood release cable the hole way but I wasn't able to do that for some reason (can't remember why). GL

ok im just an idiot. there are 3 wires coming out of the sender. so i would assume the white out of the gauge is for the white light and the orange is for the amber light. what did you tap into for power and ground for the gauge?" and also for the sender? did you mont the sender in the engine bay or cockpit? also any ideas on which wres for the white to be lite up during the day and the amber at night? thanks

Man you are one confused mofo. I thought I was bad lol.

The whole purpose of the sender unit is so you dont have to thread a hose all the way from the engine bay to the gauge. I mounted the sender unit on the battery. As for grounding . . . just find a metal part of the car.

For power I used the cigar lighter.

im just not really good at wiring lol. u used the cig lighter for the BOTH power wires. thanks for clearing everything up for me.

I woulda drawn power for the sender from somewhere in the engine bay... but as long as it works, its fine... just may not be the cleanest.

Yeah i powered everything from the cig lighter. I thought about using the battery but that just seemed dangerous to me.

I'm gonna try tomorrow too. and i have no idea how to do the fuse box thing so cig lighter it is.

well i had everything wired up and working. but when i got everything back together its not working. so tomorrow i will do it all over again. on the positive side, i figured out how to get my turbo timer working again.

Don't give up! I just did my first gauge install (which was tough for me) and here's my two cents:

1. Use a voltmeter (and check continuity on all your wiring). There are too many different how-tos around and none of them that I found completely detail the installation taps, prolly cause awesome people already know how to do this. With a voltmeter you don't have to trust - you can see it for yourself. The $20 I spent saved me mucho headaches.

2. I found the ignition harness to be the easiest place to tap. There are 2 18 ga wires coming out of the harness. The one that tests 12V with the engine off in 12V constant. The other is switched 12V Acc. For the dimmer tap, which makes your gauges turn amber when the headlights are on, just pry out the dimmer switch, tap it and guide your wires through to where they come out under the dash by the ignition harness, and all your wires are in one place (Excepting the ground - which I tapped at the main ground for the radio).
