Proof that Thomas Knight Turbos are Trash...

So atsturbo, have you considered developing one of your Eaton kits as a true bolt on for the 3rd gen Protege? The topic of superchargers come up A LOT here and nobody makes an affordable kit. JR refuses to.

it's not ideal, but it's not the end of the world

Damn, never mind, I didn't know you were talking about the exhaust side!

big probe on the subject... he's on this board if you know who he is

As I stated in several posts, I stopped producing turbo kits in 2000. I sent the person who posted these pics some of the PGT turbo pics, but his email was limited in size so I will send the turbo kit pics again.
I run my shop by myself with occasional help. I have not done ANYTHING but mail order for the last five years. So any referrence to someone coming to my shop for work is YEARS ago. Also, I get 75-100 phone calls every day, as well as at least that many emails. If I answer the phone all day I get nothing finished. So I listen to the caller on the recording. Most hang up before they leave a message. Then that makes me a bad guy? IF they leave a message they ALWAYS get a return call--ALWAYS.
The pic of the FS shows what I do. I get a stock manifold and cut it and then build a plenum for the Eaton unit. I use the 1st gen GM 3800 Eaton and make the manifold, drive pulley setup, and throttle body adapter for $1500. This allows someone to get a new, rebuilt, or used EATON--wrecker or ebay-- for $300 or so and with a gauge or two and an FMU you are set for $2K or less.
I responded to the PT guys for the last time. I honestly dont care what they think. It is like a girlfriend whom you broke up with, and for no good reason she will spit and call you names for the rest of your life.

So you'll still do this? Somebody who wants a SC should at least give it a try! Buy a new mani off of corksport if you want to keep your old one...

Yes, that is one dirty motor. It has been welded on, been in and outdoors for eight years, and been the dummy I have used for different designs since 1995. I have over twenty different engines I use for prototypes. It was a 1992 MX3 1.8 from a submarine special. Goobers are all over the floor. That is how I LIKE it!!!

I've been reading up on Thomas Knight lately and I am pretty sure that he has just gotten a bad rep from someone using his name to sell turbo kits. He even has a pretty decent version of a,....[hides in corner],.........electric supercharger. Yep. But his is a roots type blower built by Eaton I think. It uses three electric motors and it only lasts for 9 seconds. (drag racing only use ofcourse) But it sounds and looks pretty solid. He is also up front about admiting that it only works for short bursts, not sustained boost.

I for one believe that TK has just gotten a bad name and he is actually a good mechanic, and engineer.(engineer from experience, not that actually degreed engineer) But maybe he does have a degree, I don't know. I believe him though.
