Nice find! (2thumbs) This must be the one that I've heard of that is registered in the states...I've seen several reports online of a Eunos Cosmo registered in WA...Looks like it's in pretty darn good condition...Now I know who has been buying up all the factory spares! (argh)
This EC is a '90 which was the first year for the EC...Mine is a '95 which was the last year for the EC. This one is a Type E which is more a luxury based edition and mine is more of a sport/luxury mix known as the Type SX...Basically...It's similar to mine but an earlier model and different version
I'm interested to know why he replaced the original engine and how exactly was he able to obtain a "zero run time" crate 20B??? Unless this was a back in the 90's...?
Despite the second motor...Looks like he took a lot of care to restore and preserve his EC...I wonder what the reserve is...?

The days of Navi-less driving in Japan will soon be over! 
I've got the Alpine X075 series in-dash Navi system on order!
The battle plan is to meet on March 3rd with my Mazda friend and his pro-audio shop guy to discuss the best way to mount the Alpine unit so that it matches the look and feel of the Cosmo interior.
I'm going to post a brief timeline here to keep the plan somewhat organized (dates are currently estimated and will be updated):

March 3rd - March 17th
* Navi ready to be installed
* Pre-install meeting
* Order RE Amemiya steering column gauge pod
* New scuff plates to be installed
* Preventative maintenance checks
-- Spark Plugs
-- Differential oil
March 21st - March 24th
* Navi system & custom mount/plate completed!
* RE Amemiya steering column gauge pod ready to install
* Order the following Defi goodies
-- Defi's new "Racer Gauge" for Boost (not the best name imo but it comes in size 52 which I need for the pod as 60 may be too large)
*I might go with red as I think it would add that bit of spice to the Cosmo interior without seeming out of place
-- Defi-Link Display
-- Defi-Link Control Unit II
* Schedule next pre-install meeting for the Defi system setup to be custom mounted in the glove box

My friend hooked me up with the hose schematic for the 20B-REW sequential turbo system...Now I know why he was trying to tell me it's a bit complicated to replace those hoses...Sheesh!

I don't see "remove sequential turbo setup, replace with big single setup"
some of the bigger rotary race shops in Australia do 20B single turbo exhaust manifolds to suite large frame turbos (20B could happilly live with a turbo that is way "oversized" for a 2L engine due to the engine design)..would make a fantastic addition in the go fast department I think!

Going to a single on these cars is not practical. You turn them into a slug under 4000rpm then the light-switch flicks on & "BANG" comes the amazing power.
Very painful way to drive in city streets & you quickly get tired of the frustration.
BNR in the USA will "reliably" upgrade the factory turbos to hi-flow specs that allows up to 1.2=bar of boost through them meaning the engine would be good for near 350KW & thats serious "Kick arse" material on the street whilst retaining the gentle, refined driveability that the twins provide.
The exact reason why I'll always prefer staying with the factory twins on my Cosmo.

Thats Brads Cosmo. He has owned it for many years & its perfectly maintained. Is fitted with a new interior almost straight from the factory. Brad spares no expense on that car either. Although the bids are currently at US$10k, there is little chance thats anywhere near the reserve. Shall wait to see what happens when the bidding expires.
Cool factor is this Cosmo is 100% titled & registered in the USA so it is possible if you do the right research & go through the right channels.

Found a few pics on the net...Both these guys did custom jobbies and I don't know about the pillar setup but I like the steering wheel housing idea...I think FEED sold those at one point but not anymore...
This guy made custom mounts for both locations I believe...
In regards to your desire to update to the DEFI gauge system. I think you can get digital version of those gauges & if thats the case, then have you considered the possability of fitting them on the passenger side behind the smoked perspex. There is plenty of room & its a straight forward job cutting out the plastic backing to get the gauges installed.
I have done it to my Cosmo, albiet in "boost" form only so far but if you view the www.dmrh.com.au web site & check the "My Cosmo" pages, you will see what I mean

Japan is the land of the traffic jam so an auto is more practical.
However, I feel the answer is more traditional. All luxury vehicles in Japan have auto's as a form of status & to offer a manual is to offer the lowely man access to what should be an exclusive car.
You need only to do a small amount of research & you should find almost all mega-yen luxury based cars in Japan are exclusive auto models.
At Y5,300,000 in 1990 money, the Type-E.CCS version Cosmo (top line model) was easily in the "Rich mans" catergory by Japanese car pricing standards

After I finished installing the above mods...I headed out for a short drive around town...I've got to say even though these mods were fairly basic and simple...The car does feel goood...real goood
Here's what I noticed...
- Idle is a lot more solid and steady
- Engine noise has not increased but the sound of the turbos has...BIG TIME!
- Throttle response has been greatly improved which means I have to be even more careful to keep this beast under control...
- Power delivery is more refined now...
You are certainly in a great position for accessing whats available for these cars, here down under. Its case of PAY THROUGH THE NOSE for parts from Japan or manufacture it yourself.
Love your Auto-Exe intake pod. The most desireable pod filter for a Cosmo ever. Damn shame they are AU$1300 landed.........(dark)

Grant loves his Cosmo & is always tinkering with it so keep your eye out for its regular updates. Being an electrican by trade, he knows his way around them electrically. He also owns a Eunos Presso / Mazda MX-3

It's very common for the rubber hoses to fatigue over the years, go brittle & crack releasing vacum / boost signals to the various actuators & soleniods.
Replacing all the hoses under the manifold is a good idea now the Cosmo is ageing. Have a few spare soleniods with you as you will break their nipples when attempting to remove the baked on rubber hoses. I usually break 1-2 when asked to perform jobs like this for Aussie Cosmo owners but was breaking 3-4 on the first few attempts.
Fixing the hoses issue gives better boost response & makes the engine behave much more civilised. They also smooth out the 1st-to-2nd turbo transition.

No problem...I was surprised as well when I first checked out the car before buying it...but after checking out the Mazdaspeed parts and doing a little background research...The badge started to grow on me...My feeling might change in the future but for now...I feel like the badge is a natural part of this specific Cosmo.
Great badge I say. Good taste on its position too.
Its hard to spot in this pic but its the only one I have that shows it & the right side boot seemed the only logical position
