progress sway bar or racing beat sway bar

deciding which one to get for my P5..

is the below correct

the progress sway comes with bushings and would probably work with the stock end links.

the racing beat one off an MSP would probably require new MSP bushings, brackets, and endlinks?

which one would u guys go with?

For the MSP rear bar you need the brackets, bushings, and sedan endlinks. It's the setup I'm running right now. I've heard some good stuff about the progress products, but not many people on here have them so I'm not sure. I'm sure it comes with the bushings though, and if they are made for the Protege5 they'll work fine with our endlinks. If they are made for the sedan you might need sedan endlinks, which you can get for around $50USD shipped from Ken @ Protegegarage.com

Oh and all this assumes that you can actually re-use your stock endlinks. I had to break each and every one of mine to install my new struts, they were so corroded and rusted ugh.

not only do you need the brackets, you need the crossmember if you're installing the racing beat

I needed the crossmember? lol I didn't notice, it all went togehter fine for me :)

Oh you have the BJFP not the BJFW. The wagon is probably a little different perhaps?

I have the Progress 22mm rear sway and it works fine with the stock endlinks, if you can do the install without screwing them up, as mentioned before. I had access to air tools so the install was easier for me. The kit came with new bushings to fit the bigger bar and new brackets that mount the bar in the stock bracket locations.

Simple install and a lot of stock parts/locations were reused so I would say go with the Progress. It's a thicker bar than the MSP stocker too, so your rear will be stiffer through the corners with the Progress. Also, with a thicker rear bar than the front, oversteer becomes more of a possibility even with our FWD cars.

I bought my Progress rear kit from Ken at ProtegeGarage. Awesome prices and Ken is a great guy/vendor.

No problems here. Used the stock crossmember w/energy suspension bushing that were bent to fit the stock location...And stock endlinks too!

My car is lowered 1.3 all around & I have the progress 22mm & it fit perfect with the supplied bushings & mounts. No problems using my stock endlinks. No noises or problems. Nothing but good. Made corners feel more balanced & stuck.

so there is no difference between the rear of a sedan and a wagon? the same bar should fit both cars correct?

thanks

Yea. You don't even need the sedan endlinks. P5 ones are fine. But I suggest only going with the racing beat if you get the axr clunk fix brackets. I had the Progress bar and it was great. But then I started adding a rear strut bar and trailing arms and the rear got too stiff. I just got the delsing brackets and I am waiting on the racing beat bar right now. But I sold the bar to a friend of mine that is stock with only springs and he loves it. For the price it is an awesome bar.

well i have the progress bar already, and the awr endlinks, but when i went by the shop today to line things up before the install it just didn't seem to line up right. so i was just wondering, before i go and start the install

The only thing different between the subframes is a welded tab for the bushing bracket. It only makes it thicker. A washer would essentially do the same thing.

How did you get the AWR endlinks to work. They were too long. But I believe the sedan has longer endlinks then the P5.

i haven't i just stopped by the shop this morning on the way to work to make sure i had everything, and i just wanted to line it all up

Once you start bolting everything it will be fine. But the I thought the MP3's already came with a racingbeat bar.
long story short:

girl owned car, car got repo'd, good friends of girl stripped parts before repo man came, i bought car missing those parts and having slowly been replacing them.

Get the progress it was designed for your car and is bye far the most bad ass sway bar on the market for the protege! I had one but couldnt make it work on my msp so I sold it to my buddy with and LX, which uses the same rear subframe as the P5!
