Problems with my p5

A couple days ago I changed my front driver side axle. This has never happened to my car until now. So what happened is Every time I turn right, and sometimes on left turns the driver side front wheel feels off, it feels like it's kinda wiggling, and there's a loud thump and knocking noise. It doesn't feel or sound good at all. Been under the car a couple times now, axle is in good. And everything else seems tight and the way it should be.

Another thing is while I'm driving there comes a sensation like the wheel isn't controlling anything and then it grips back, really weird feeling.

Please let me know what you think, any suggestions or where I should start

If the knock happens when you try to accelerate and is more pronounced when turning left its your engine mounts, especially the rear mount.

The only other things that can possibly knock would be loose ball joints or sway bar links. Check your sway bar link nuts. Even if they are on, if they spin with a wrench, they will have play when on the car.

My guess is engine mounts though, check to see if they are ripped.

I checked engine mount, all are good. It's coming from the wheel forsure, my ball joint boot is ripped so I'm gonna change passenger axle, both lower control arms with bearings and ball joint.

That should put me on good ground with my suspension...

Hopefully it fixes it, because it seriously feels like the wheel is gonna pop off at any turn. And when I shift to second and accelerate, I feel the driver front wheel spinning oddly. I really have no clue what it could be

Lift the front end of the car and give that wheel a shake, at both the top and bottom, and side to side. If there is any movement, you need to address it.

Check the lug nuts too. Not sure why, but I had issues with mine coming loose after taking the front end apart.

Car is jacked up and there is no play in the wheels, and lug nuts are tight

Check your sway bar links ... And does it shake intermittently? If so all protgs have front brake caliper issue causing caliper lock up... In turn warping rotor till pads are gone enough to Clarence... Clean slides and lube... Make sure caliper will collapse and if rubber hoses are failing they will give the same feeling... Replace them..

Brakes aren't the problem, and links are brand new. It's a popping sound coming from the wheel, it feels like it isn't rotating right when I make a right turn. Barely ever on left turns.

And I just realized that my steering wheel isn't completely aligned however, it was aligned before I changed my axle... Could it be the alignment got thrown off ?

If its not back together right ... Lower control arms going bad can give you a moving feeling in the front end... Check struts over completely.... Motor mounts...

Sounds like CV joint getting ready to fail.

My [shudder] 1995 Contour (aka "Scabby Abby") had that clunking while turning. It got worse. buhbangbuhbangbuhbang when turning and giving it power.
The day I was selling it (I had a sucker, uh, BUYER) and I was pulling up the driveway the CV joint actually broke.
[rolls eyes] ;)

You might have received a bad axle.. I've had pretty bad luck with the parts store shafts. The only ones that I trust now are Cardone Select.

I broke an axle two years ago on my Camry. Shortly before it failed, my steering wheel would oscillate at low speeds and it would snap and pop severely. Eventually it completely let go on a right hand turn.

To test, lift the affected wheel off the ground and place the car on a stand. Hop in the car, start engine, and place in 1st gear. Turn the wheel to full lock in both directions and apply the brakes while the wheel is spinning. If the axle begins to snap and pop, you've found the problem.

Well the axle is brand new, and it was me and my neighbor that's a mechanic that put it in. Il have to put it up again and start the car to confirm if it makes the popping noise

I've bought three axles from Autozone/Oreilly's, two new and one remanufactured, all three started popping within 6 months, been running the Cardone axles for over a year without any noise. New doesn't mean anything.
