this is totally normal
of all the engine rebuilds i've done, it always smokes
why? well, you had to lobe the pistons to put them in, right?
also, just to be shure, i always dump a capfull of oil in each cylinder right before the first crank and keep everything lubricated up to the last bolt before the first crank
it smokes like a b**** when it starts, but it wonn't scratch any cylinder wall!!
when the rings settle it should stop smoking...
if you didn't use oil in each cylinder on the first crank, it could also be that you scratch a wall

ok this is kinda embarassing.
One oher thing. I drove it around last night, and then drove it to work this morning. Is it normal for it to burn a little smoke untill the rings are seated? Its just a little and only when you get on it a little. The guys at work said thats not uncommon for new rings especially crome moly ones. Is this true?
Now if i can just figure out why my Greddy EBC isnt working.....
at least its running!
