problem during boost

so tonight i was toying with this truck and he took off then i downshifted to second and gunned it, when i got to about 5-6000 RPM it felt like someone just slammed on the breaks for a second and then let off. so i tried again in second and the same thing happened almost like it stalls for a second. this never used to happen before today so i dont know what it could be. i havent tried it in all the gears cuz i dont want to screw something up. maybe it was something to do with the cold? it was -47C with the wind chill tonight. what do you guys think?

well it never used to do it why is it doing it now? and i tried turning my boost down with my MBC and it still staying at 9psi. i guess maybe ill just take the boost contol off then itll go back to stock boost.

My car has the exact same problem and its probably due to wastegate actuator going bad, which will cause your boost to spike around 10psi. There is discussion on this somewhere in the forum, but I can't find it, its titled "Fuel cut at 4K rpm". I suspect if you try it in any gear you'll have the same issue; mine did. The boost spikes and the ECU cuts the fuel. I ordered a ATP wastegate actuator from Crossover Auto for $59 (don't get the Forge one as I hear it doesn't last long and its twice as expensive).

I just received mine and will install it soon. There's a link somewhere on the forum with installation instructions. I'll let you know if it works for me. Until then, I recommend not flooring it, just accelerate slowly.

alright thanx man let me know how it goes

Could be a number of things (vacuum leak as mentioned) but the most likely is fuel cut, also known as boost cut - especially considering you said it was -47 C. First off, I don't think I would even be driving my car, much less that hard in those temperatures. Anyhow, you are maxxing out the MAF because it is reading too much air (cold air = dense air). You can turn down the boost, which will help to a point but you'll still probably cut. You need a FCD (fuel cut defender) or a MAF clamp to stop this. The Splitsecond AFC also does this (reduces the voltage from the MAF seen by the ECU) to an extent.

take the boost controller off the car. even all the way "down" many of them will raise the boost level slightly above stock. which at that temp might just be enough to trigger fuel cut.

remember; colder air = denser air = leaner combustion. the leaner you run in boost, the more potential for damage to the engine.

ya i never drive like that in winter but this truck was pushing all the right buttons just asking for it lol. note taken tho cold=take it easy

never hit this before, im not complaining haha i just run 9 pounds daily in 20 degree weather and dont hit it,i wonder why

did you ever find out what it is..becasue i believe i am having the same problem is just feels like some one slams on the breaks but the car wants to go!
