Pro5 Alarm System

Mine came today, included all parts (including booklet for owner's manual and stickers for windows). Installed in 30 minutes (would have taken a little less but there was a sudden downpour when i was sitting in the car installing with all the windows open and the battery disconnected so i had to stop to push the car under a tree to finish. It works great.

For anyone else who has installed this alarm, is there a way to get the keyless entry system of the car to stop flashing the turn signals? The alarm system flashes the parking lights (with the fog light mod the fogs flash too), but the keyless entry is still doing it's own flashes. When I unlock, the fogs and parking lights flash once, and then the turn signals flash once more after that. When I lock, the fogs flash once with the turn signals, then the parking lights and fogs flash once more. To summarize, it looks messy and I'd like to know if the keyless entry's flashing could be disabled. Maybe the dealership would do this (I have a nice list of things they need to fix).

In the end, well worth just $112 (especially since it requires no installation costs).

I got mine too. I'll be installing it today. Do you have any pointers?
Actually... I don't think I do. the hardest part is the parking light wire, it isn't a simple plug and play you have to put a splicer on the thing and it's a pain because there isn't much exposed wire. It is an amazingly simple install.

Oh here's another pointer. Make sure you don't install it so that any of the wires hang below the cable to unlatch the hood. My dome light sensor wire hangs below it, but I think I can just disconnect the release handle from the dash and get the wire around it. Also, when putting the car back together leave the panel under the steering column off to make it easy to adjust the shock sensor. The installation instructions say to mount the sensor to a largfe bundle of wires, but I think it would be more accurate if it were attached to a metal piece down there? Mine is connected to a bundle of wires for now.

Thanks for finding such a great deal on the alarm.

Do not put the shock sensor on a solid piece of metal it will not work as well, it'll end up only protecting the front and not the rear of the car. It is designed to pick up very subtle motions that would be felt on a wire harness but not through the body of the car.

So would a very large wire harness be better or worse than a small harness (to attach the sensor). As of right now I think I did notice that it's more sensitive in the front. If you forcefully grab the door handle and let it snap back (ugh i hate passengers) it sets it off, but I am able to open the hatch with just a horn chirp.

I installed mine just now. It took me a while longer, maybe 1.5 hours, but I was going slow and cautious and making sure to ziptie everything. It works very well. I had to turn the sensitivity of the impact sensor way down as it was going off even with a mild open palm tap on the windshield. I mounted the sensor to one of the wiring harnesses - up against a connector block on the left side of the steering column.

The factory connectors are great, but the wiring harness is a little bulky and requires a little planning to keep all the wires out of site and untagled from the web of wires under the dash. Otherwise, this was as painless as they get.

Oh - one other observation: the trunk and the hood are not included in the alarm circuit for some reason. In fact, you can leave both of them wide open and still arm the system without setting off the alarm.

The instructions said to mount the LED indicator inside the instrument cluster. I didn't see the point of putting it in there, so instead I mounted right on top of the steering column cover. However, I don't like the continuous flashing so I may actually mount it somewhere else, or I may just remove it - not sure yet.

solomr2,

I just installed mine (my previous posts just were "plans" of my intall.

Where the helll does the LED hook up to? I couldn't find anything in the harness. The instructions said to hook it up but to where? Otherwise, it works fine...I didn't have time to install the shock sensor..I'll do that some other day.
