Price of MSProtog

How far have people been able to go under sticker price?

I am going to try and make a deal Monday on one. I spent Saturday looking and driving one. They are pretty nice. For sure the best handling car you can get for the price.

Right now the dealer has it marked down 1500 below sticker + the 2000 cash back.

I wanted to try and get 2500 under sticker from the dealer. The dealer doesn't pay for the 2000 cash back, Mazda does. I know they try and play on this, but the 2000 has nothing to do with the dealer at all.

Also, we should be able to throw in an extra 500 student graduation cash back.

Is this possible? It is October and I know that dealer wants to unload it. I hope it works out. I am going to be making a offer on the silver one in the show room floor that has 12 miles on it.

just make sure its known that if you dont get this car, you have dodge holding an srt-4 for you. im SURE he'll give you a deal then!
its all about the i dont really need it (BUT I DO) mentality. walk in just act like you dont NEEEED this car. you'll get a better deal then! :) WELCOME TO THE BOARDS!! :D

Well I don't need this car :) I want it.

Also there are 8 in Indianapolis, so I will walk. Tax is 1.5% lower too.

I paid 18k after the 2k rebate. It was great adding that 2k to the rebate. :)

I paid 20K out the door. I think it was around 17,500.
Sticker price was 21000, second sticker was 23,000.

Once he told me the car had been on the lot for 2 months,
I knew they would deal.

$18,900 OTD (Delray Beach)

lowest I've heard is $16k in Austin, TX (why did I ever move? :( )

remember the price you guys paid for it though may not be the market value in that section of the country. you might just upset him when he cant get it for less :)

Spicy orange or black mica...15,995

yellow or silver..... 16,495

dark silver or blue .......16,945

thats some of the ard numbers I got from the dealer last week....

Anyone know what the dealer cost is one one?

There is a chance in hell I can get it for 300-500 above dealer cost.

Seeing it is October and they need to sell them and all.

I was going to try and go 3000 under invoce.

Don't laugh. It can be done. I know where more are if I can't get this one. Also, they need to sell a car more then I need a car. This is a luxury item for me.

As I said before, the dealer doesn't have anything to do with the 2k cash back. As much as they would like to play on that, I am going to go as low as a can before that.

I just love how sales guys ask how low I want my payments or what can I afford. No no no. How low can you go?

I am going to laugh (laugh) Why do you think the dealership will be willing to loose 3k on you? I don't see why the dealerships would have to get rid of them in a hurry anyway. Especially if they have to loose money on them! They will still sell if you don't buy one. This is a low production number car remember.

Come to think of it... The dealership I got mine from (that is located in the middle of NOWHERE, a 6 hour drive SE of Portland, OR) and they had multiple MSP's in stock. They were not in any huge hurry to get rid of theirs. They picked up like 4 more just about a month ago too. If it was going to come down to them loosing money on them they would have not got them.

Dealerships can also sell these cars off to non-Mazdaspeed dealerships too. The dealerships that can't get them direct.

If you don't know what the dealer payes for it, then you can't say they will be loosing money going 3K under invoice.

The local dealer already has the car priced 1500 under invoice by there own choice. that means they can go lower. That is just what they want to sell it for.

I only know how much Mitsu makes on cars, not Mazda, but they make lots of money selling them. I bet even with 3K under invoice, they will make money off the car.

Got mine for 15,995 plus TTL. Roger Beasley (the owner of all 4 Mazda dealerships in Austin) said and I quote 'git rid of those cars!".

That was with a 2500 dealer discount on top of the factory holdback. I say drive to Austin man!

thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard. invoice is what they pay for the vehicle. they wont make money if its sold under invoice. they want to sell it at that price for a reason. i sold cars for 2 years and if you think youre one of those special customers that can get prices for 3k under invoice, then youre an idiot. the dealers rarely make 3k on a newer vehicle at LIST price until you get up into the more expensive vehicles.

Are you getting the terms invoice and MSRP mixed up? Regardless, there's still not 3k between the two for them to work with.

I got mine for $550 over invoice. I paid 18k for the car after the rebate.

By the way... It is not secret information what dealerships pay for cars anymore. (maybe it is in some casses)

Austin dealerships continue to sell for $15,995 for 2003 and $16,495 for 2003.5. According to Consumer Reports this is $500 under wholesale (which is invoice minus holdback). It's hard to argue with a deal like that. Stock is plentiful for both cars in all colors.
I got mine from Jack Hughes at Roger Beasley Mazda on Burnet. It was the easiest car purchase I've ever made. They even tinted my windows as a part of the deal.
I think Roger Beasley is getting a kickback from Mazda to keep moving these cars out of the showroom.

Now that's what I'm talking about. I was going to try 3000 under sticker, but maybe only 2500 + 2000K cash back + 500 student graduation program. Hell ya. If not, I know where others are, and December is the best month to clear out.

According to my sources Mazda dealerships in Austin are not selling MSPs as fast as they expected. Thus the huge price cut.
I'm betting that large dealers in other areas probably have the same problem.
My car has a manufactured date of 12/02 and a delivery inspection date of 5/03. It sat on the back lot of the dealership for a long time before I came along. I feel like I've rescued a puppy.

The amount of time these cars are sitting around and the lack of response from other enthusiasts is a bit of a concern to me since I really want this Mazdaspeed car to sell well so Mazda will make additional models.
I'm dreaming of a day about 3-4 years from now when I'll be trading my current MSP in for a Mazdaspeed RX-7.

If you are sitting on the fence about purchasing this car and have the financial ability to do it then now is the time.

If you have friends looking for a new car please encourage them to look at the MSP.

I want this program to be such a success for Mazda that they continue it until I'm too old to drive!

I think the lack of power and exposure is killing this car, unlike the srt-4 a local dealer said they're are on back order(at least for cars they wanted), again that could be one of those sales pitches. But I think Mopar is doing good by offering upgrades through the dealer. Plus you got the Mazda 6 at the same price.
