2003 Mazda Protege ES
I have a 2003 Protege ES. The other day I got out of my car, and I guess I slammed the car door a little hard or something, because I heard a little jingle, so I turned around and my window was going down by itself. I think the clip on the belt broke. I don't think its the motor because it sounds like it still works, it still moves inside and holds up the window when I push up, it's when I push down the window seems to slip and then just slide down. I had this a happen to me on a Focus I used to have, and me and my dad tried to fix it, but the sheet metal on the door made it almost impossible, so we had to take it in to a shop. To replace the clip and put the window on the track cost me $200 and apparently only took the guy like a hour to an hour and a half, so I'm guessing there must be a way to take off that piece of metal, because I don't feel like dropping another $200, at least not without a fight. If you guys know anything about how to take that metal piece off, I would be greatly appreciative if you could tell me. Thanks.

No way, the exact same thing happend to me not a month after i bought my 99. Slammed the door shut, and the window went shwooom back into the door. Motor was fine, like yours, but the mechanism was off track... i did not have the know-how to fix it, so i ended up losing 200 clams :-'
