power loss/loud sucking noise... help???

Try 'pluging the holes for the BOV and see if that helps. You will not harm anything just dont go crazy or leave it 'pluged' long.

ok so the BPV is ruled out... just took a drive and had it plugged up, same sound, same power loss... i did however notice a new symptom. when i started up the car there was a smell of raw gas from the exhaust and once i got the car warmed up there was white smoke coming out of the exhaust. i know typically this means a blown head gasket, but i never heard of the things that are going on with my car as being related with a blown head gasket so im thinking it may be something else... any ideas? i know this is getting a little ridiculous but its really pissing me off and i dont want to take it to a garage, get charged a bazillion $$ for something that i could fix myself, or atleast take it to them knowing whats wrong and bypassing all the diagnostics BS... thanks a lot for all the help so far

I actualy have some similar symptoms, I have an odd.. loud sound that started yesterday coming for me sounds more like from the exhaust manifold or upper turbo area (will still be checking all pipes) and really rich smell at start up and idle issues. I think its probably exhaust side because of the sound, it sounds almost like the exhaust is open but from inside the engine bay.

Just figured it out the sound, it was one of the nuts connecting the turbo to the exhaust manifold being loose.

I will have to check those bolts tomorrow. Yeah after driving to work this morning i checked the exhaust and no smoke coming out of the exhaust and no fuel smell either so it must just be at start up. When i got off work i smelled it when i started it up but then when i got home there was nothing again. i will definately be checking the bolts tomorrow though. Where you only getting the noise once the turbo started spooling or all the time? also where you experiencing a lot of power loss as well? I really hope this works

any new suggestions? i've run out of ideas right now and am pretty reluctant to take it to a garage yet. I'd get much more satisfaction fixing it myself... and im being cheap right now since im going to be unemployed in a few weeks lol

possible clogged cat...if u can disconnect before the cat and see if more power comesback..or if u got a backpressure tester go thru the front o2

ok so i think i might have just found out what was wrong... i was looking around in the engine bay and giggled around the vac hose to the wastegate and it just cracked. wasnt putting any pressure on it and wasnt being rough with it. Then i come to realize that all 3 hoses going to the T fitting were all dried out. I havent got a chance to get to out and get the hoses yet since i now need a ride to get there but will be going tomorrow and replacing them and praying that my car runs right afterwards. this sound like it could be the fix to anyone? thanks for all the help throughout this friggin thing...

Sounds like you found the problem. A vacume leak would ready make your car run like s*** if it was bad. On my RX7 I had one vacume line blow off and the car would start then die. It sucked they have to many vacume lines.

I would like to know what happens....because my car is doing the same dam
thing.

not sure what your talking about... i havent picked up the lines yet. going to go get them tomorrow from autozone or something

Autozone wow I didn't know they sell silicone hoses - well try here if you
don't find it http://www.verociousmotorsports.com...cuum-Hose/Vacuum-Hose-Platinum-Cured-Silicone

3.5mm (5/32") - majority of vacuum lines on intake manifold
4mm (3/16") - wastegate actuator and emissions lines
6.35(1/4") - PCV and crankcase ventilation

forum info..

well changed out all the lines and that wasnt it. i blew into the new hose on the WGA though and was able to blow through it fine. i think that means that its bad but im not sure. going to have to look into that.

wow I am in the same boat.. I am going to purchase some gauages
and see if that will help me find the problem.

let me ask you something does it happen when your in gear??
thats when it happens to me but when in netrual its normal.

yeah its normal in neutral... only acts up when in gear and about the time that the turbo would normally spool up. im about to install my boost gauge now so we'll see if that helps out any. i'll keep you up to date on what im up to and let me know if you make any discoveries
