POTHOLE Triggers Check Engine Light?!

Just buy your own scanner. You can find a cheap OBD2 for like 30-40 bucks i think.

Its a useful tool to have when your modding your car.

OBD is also universal btw, so a p0304 code on your car, would be the same on another.

I was just headed in to autozone to scan it and the light went off after being on for days, go figure. So I went in and had them scan it anyways. 2 codes came up. Here are the papers they printed out with the codes and other info. Not sure what I should do. I scanned the papers and posted them below. Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks...

did you have them clear it too?? i would say clear it and wait and see if it comes back on

i would say that pothole messed with either the connector or sensor. crankshaft position sensor is most likely a type of magnetic sensor, so i can see how a pothole might impact the car enough to make the sensor think that the crank skipped a beat or something. same with the coolant temp sensor

agreed with clear it and see if it happens again

did they give u any problems on usin the scanner?

I went in and asked if they have a scanner and he asked if I wanted to buy one for $100 or have him "go out to test it". I said test it. He went out, plugged it in, came back into the store and printed those papers for me, no charge. A cool service for them to offer for free to get customers in there.

Autozone doesn't clear codes anymore, atleast not around here. They will claim that its illegal for them to do so.

They won't clear them here either, but they usually let you go scan the car yourself if you know how to do it.

Correct, technically they are not a licensed facility. You can go to any AAMCO station and have it tested/reset for free.
