Potential Mazdaspeed3 buyer

Agreed. The MS3 and Fit are not similar. But in their separate and completely incomparable classes of car, they are both two of the better cars in their classes, and either one is a good buy. It just depends on what you want out of the car.

Fuel Economy = Fit
Storage Space = Fit (barely)
Fun = MS3
Speed = MS3
Practicality = Fit
Sporty Practicality = MS3

if you're fairly content with the Fit, keep it.

i drove a prius for almost 4 years. initially, i loved driving solo in the carpool lane, and saving so much money on gas. but slowly i grew bored, and kept wanting something faster and better handling. the ms3 solved that problem.

again, if you keep wanting something sportier while driving your fit, you should ditch it (if it also makes financial sense to you).

ok, i have 3000 miles on my MS3. i came from a pickup truck as a daily, so i went 180 degrees of change. one big negative. i have become a real dick on the road. i have embraced the fast lane. i have never ever noticed all the slow drivers that feel 65mph in the fast lane is fast enough. i need them all out of my way NOW!

running superunleaded and having it burn up at 22mpg is painful, but again i came from a 4x4 truck. it is all about perspective.

ok. we're gonna go over all the numbers and stuff after i clock out today. if the payments are gonna be where i want them im gonna get the car. i called my ins company today and its looking like around a $30 increase monthly. not so bad. so ill let you guys know wut happens. i appreciate everyone's help and info.

glad we could apply enough peer pressure to get you to cave (lol2)

hmmm maybe with more peer pressure we could convince him to buy us all FMICs

personally, i think i'd settle for rims or an intake. then again, my car isnt modded and most of you already have one or both of the above, so i guess i can take one for the team and go with the FMIC. it sounds like a reasonable reward for the plethora of knowledge which we have been so gracious to impart on him.

My only mod so far is a scraped up rear quarter panel from some jackass in a parking lot, who I unfortunately didn't catch in the act and who didn't leave any contact info. I could really use an intake, though, so what say we get on this peer pressure thing?

be gentle guys. be gentle. hahaha. so it looks like its within my budget and im good to go i guess. did any of you guys get any extended warranty (ex. 5yrs/100,000) and is it worth getting? and if youre wondering, i kinda do drive a lot. (to SD mostly. gf goes to school down there.)

If you want to mod your car a lot, don't worry about the extended warranty. If you will be only doing minor mods to your car, or keeping it stock, I think the extended warranty is a good idea. But don't let them sell it to you for the price they originally try to sell you at. They make a TON of money off of these warranties. You should be able to get the MAXIMUM protection for around $600-700 (as opposed to the $2000 they will initially try to sell you it for).

standard powertrain warranty is 5 years / 60k, which isn't shabby for a car like this IMO. i skipped the extended because i was mostly concerned with powertrain... it'll suck if stuff starts going wrong after the bumper-to-bumper period on the warranty, but i can deal with that stuff. it'd likely just be things that are inconveniences, not integral parts to the car, so i'll take my chances.

well doesnt look so good. my work cant even get me the one i want. with a car like this, its pretty hard to do a dealer trade when my work doesnt even have a ms3 to trade for. meh. wutever.

(lol) the break in tips from The Frank and john blutarski, talk about extremes, well guess you've heard both sides of this neverending issue. (Though I also broke her in gently)

Congrats on your purchase!! I hope the car exceeds your expectations!! Have fun, keep it smooth and safe!
