Notes:
Today I made sure that my previous day's class win was not a fluke and that the Integra wasn't just having a bad day. He barely eeked out a clean run trying to match my time and again came only about within a second of me and I think that run had a cone. So I'm feeling pretty good about my autocross performance. Unfortunately, I may be coming on strong too late in the game to get enough championship points to win any of the three possible series championships in my area.

Sweet runs everyone.
I just posted another in my sig. It's from a couple weekends ago, but just got the results back.
4th out of 14, and still beat 2 neons on race tires. 1st of us on street tires. I think the Neon ACR that took 1st and 3rd (2 driver car) has some rule-breaking mods, but I'm a little shy to be protesting in my first season.

Stock tires and still kicked ass! I beat the crap out of several integras and corvetts, not to mention a viper. If I would have ran in the normal GS instead of Novice GS, I would have still placed 2nd.

What mods do you think he has?
The ACR is a deceptively good autocross car for GS.

It was discussed between myself and 2 other neon drivers how he commented to someone outside of racing that he knows a bunch of things he could do that nobody would ever check in the tech line. I guess he know quite a bit about cars.
I don't know the guy, but I offered to pay for his day to get a run or 2 in the car, but he turned me down.
He pretty much hides everything and keeps to himself. It may just be his way, but it just seems really weird. Everyone else that runs stock in our area drives to the track. He trailers his. I would if I could, don't get me wrong, but it just seems a little weird.
I guess you'd have to see how much better his car runs than even some of the GREAT drivers in better classes, like a past Nat Champ in D-stock. He runs similar times, and supposedly isn't the same level of driver.

Well, there's lots they don't check when they tech your car like boring and such. Unfortunately that opens the door for these buttheads to take advantage of the fact that they're not going to tear the engine apart in tech. I totally understand why you wouldn't officially protest either because it is a big to do and for just local competition, probably not worth it. Especially if your wrong, because you'll be out some money for no reason.
If he's kicking butt so well you should encourage him to compete at the Nationals. Those guys scrutinize the cars a lot closer and any tom foolery would be detected and protested by those guys.
Or just wait until he gets tired of beating you guys by cheating and moves on. That royally sucks though.

Ok, I figured I'd revive this old thread. Looks like it needed it!
My last 2 events I've taken a first and second in class with a first and fourth overall. Damn I love this car!.
Sad part is I only got second on the course I designed! Oh well, my mind was on other things, and I almost corded my front tires, so it was a little sloppy on course.
Anyway, my next event is the CENDIV Championship at Grissom Air Force Base on August 10th & 11th. I finally got my V700s on ASA JS1s (thanks for the idea cfbjr). Can't wait to test them out!

Been awhile....

For the last four auto-x weekends in our area I've been consistently coming in 1st in GS! BUT one of my V700's is starting to slighly cord around the outer edge! It started to show while on the right front of the car where it would be getting the most abuse(Our courses tend to have more left-handers for whatever reason). The others are looking a little shabby but not corded yet. I put the worn one on the rear and it hasn't gotten any worse but I think the end is near for this set!
I might get a couple more events out of them if I don't go crazy doing fun runs.
Looks like I'll be contributing to Tire Rack's bottom line once again...
The thing that hurt them the most was the track day I did on them. I noticed significant amounts of wear after that day (about an hours worth of serious road racing type driving). I got smarter after that and just kept my regular street tires on for subsequent track days and saved the race tires for autocross.
I'm stoked you took my advice CJ! How are they working out? I'm sure you are noticing the huge difference in grip and how much further you can push the car. They made a whole two seconds difference in my times!

I had a horrible day, I couldn't get any of the runs right. Worst of the season.

Next season I will have the P5 (yellowp5) and race tires, HS will be owned!

Hey fellow autocrossers! At my last event I had to leave before they posted last round times. So here are the results of the previous event .

The club is called Push it to the limit. July 13th event had 112 entries!

Class: Bstock - Anything that is FWD and unbraced without headers.

#of competitors in class: 28

Place in class: 14

Top time in class: 37.390 (crx with R compounds)

Notice 13 cars filling 4-1/2 second gap between me and 1st place. Very exiting series!

My next ones next weekend with the Twin lakes motorsport club. I cant wait. Good luck to everyone in your next one!

The Mad MP3 took another win in the Indy region. Finally gave the Neon ACRs a lesson to remember. 8 cars in the class this past saturday. We took first by almost .5 seconds, and over 1.3 seconds to third.
I believe we also got the overall event win too! 70-some cars there. It was a good event.
I'll have specifics up in my sig later today.

Heading out for the SCCA Solo II National Championships in Topeka, Kansas on Monday. If anyone is in the area, I race tuesday and wednesday. There are currently 47 cars registered in G-Stock, so 13 trophies up for grabs. After my finish at the Divisionals, I don't expect to trophy, but I do hope to finish in the top half.
I'll let you all know when I get back.
I'm also looking into entering the MTV/Dodge Neon Fast Enuff challenge. National event. We'll see how I do there.

cjstringer,
Good luck at the Nationals. I think you 'll have a good time and you might surprise yourself on where you finish. Just be cool and don't let the other drivers' play head gamers with you.

Enjoy,
Michael
