Those are freakin SEXY..... OMG... I want I want I want!!! Is that $361 for just one "set" (front or rear)??? or is that $361 for just one strut??

Peace,
RJ

what, the pillow mounts? you would probably have to check thier catalog to even see if they have them for the protege.

for the poly bushings, if i remember correctly, there are only 2 on each side in the front, and 6 on each side in the rear that could be replaced. they might only have the front ones available.

i don't know, they only list the part number. you would have to check out the superpro catalog to find out.

Possible bushings for our cars?

a couple of months late, but here;

search result for mazda, 323, Sedan & Astrina BJ series 6/1998-2002 Applies to; Show all (on super pro's online catalog) I believe these are the australian equivalent to the protege's 99-2003 found in america, and that these would fit; to be confirmed.

I do NOT know for sure that these fit, that is in the works, i will contact them ASAP... But from my experience with superpro IF they work for our cars they should be pretty great. These guys don't do things half assed. They not only make bushings for a car but make optional bushing configurations that can alter or adjust suspension geometry if one were so inclined...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

"normal" bushings, just firmer than stock no offset to correct caster...

SPF2453K Front Control Arm, Lower Front Bushing: Consists of 4 Bushings, 2 Inner Tubes

SPF2454K Front Control Arm, Lower Rear Bushings: consists of 6 Bushings, 2 Inner Tubes, 2 Outer Shells. one set needed per vehicle.

Swaybar bushings: (replace the _ _ by the diameter of your sway bar)

SPF2620-_ _K Front Sway Bar Mount Bushing (available in 22 and 24 mm)

SPF2621-_ _K Rear Sway Bar Mount Bushing (available in 17 and 20mm)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

then the advanced stuff:

SPF2573K Front Control Arm, Lower Rear Bushing:

This one increases left side caster and right side caster is unadjusted.

kit consists of 6 Bushings, 2 Inner Tubes, 2 Outer Shells, one kit per vehicle.

if you want to do the front lower control arm bushing too you still need one set of SPF2453K

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
SPF2574K Front Control Arm, Lower Rear Bushing:

Using this kit you can increase or decrease the amount of caster on both sides

the kit consists of 6 Bushings, 2 Inner Tubes, 2 Outer Shells

if you want to do the front lower control arm bushing too you still need SPF2453K

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I REPEAT I CANNOT YET CONFIRM THAT THESE PARTS FIT OUR CARS!!!

If they do i might be able to get us a nice source for them... i will keep you posted.

i don't know about you but this looks a lot like a P5 to me:

http://www.astina gt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6224

so i think were in luck.

I forgot to mention, on the superpro website, they refer to part location on the car as DS and PS for driver side and passenger side. since these are RIGHT HAND DRIVE if you do get their offset bushings and have a LEFT HAND DRIVE car you have to reverse passenger side for driver side wording or you'll do the opposite adjustment of what you intended to do. (i.e. put more caster where you want less and less where you want more)

You know, if someone had a stock controll arm and measure the busings im betting there are cheap ones already in existance made for a different car that will fit ours.

Get measurements and email prothane or energy suspension.

Can anyone contact them to see if they will do a group buy for the USA Mazda community. It could be a good deal for everyone since they can expand their business and we could get some parts that aren't normally available here.

a little pricey, but you can get the front control arm bushings (front and adjustable rear) for about $115 plus shipping

if you don't want the adjustable rear bushings, it would be about $106 plus shipping

and, they have them all in stock (according to thier website)

Does anyone have a bent or damaged controll arm they would send me? ill get the measurements from it and start calling around.

Ho bag, do as you please of course. But IMO, these are better than ES and PT bushings. I am going "standard" no offset.

As for measuring and ordering some that fit but were designed for other applications i would do that for the bushings that are not readily available.

This car has been discontinued for so long that almost all of them must need new ones by now (i feel they need to be replaced driving any car off the showroom floor), it really surprises me that there is so little talk about bushings for the P5!

Fine, but not everyone wants to pay $300 for an incomplete kit. My main intrest are the swaybar bushings (espically the front) and LCA bushings. Ill see if someone has a broken arm locally so i can compare because i sure dont want to replace those swaybar bushings more then once!

i'd love to do these on the front control arms.....

tap'n'die --
if you've ordered them already, post up here (in this thread) when they come, and let us know about the install and stuff.

Wow. Great info! I gave up on bushings awhile ago.
I would love to buy as complete a set as I could!

How the heck did you come up with a total like that?

Betcha added up every part number didn't you... Read again, you can't use all of these bushings at once; some are straight replacements, some have offsets for caster on one side, some have offsets for caster on two sides.

If you dont know what you are doing this is what you need;

spf2453K 29.59
spf2454K 76.50

swaybar bushings of the diameter you use = approx. 16$ front, 15$ back

29.59+76.50+16+15 = 137.09

If you buy ALL the bushings i list in the earlier post you will essentially have 3 sets of bushings and will only be able to use one set at a time...

well, i ordered a set of the control arm bushings front and rear (this means spf2453K and spf2454K and only involve the front A arms)

I did mention in the order comments that you guys would like a group buy.

I took the normal ones and omitted the sway bar bushings (bigger bars come with bigger bushings and that's in the plans anyway)

There is no point in you all jumping on this immediately let me try them first, who knows maybe i will burn and cut out mine only to find out after the fact that the new ones don't fit and have to buy new arms! Hopefully that will not happen but better it happen to one of us than 20 of us if you know what i mean...

So i am pioneering a little and venturing into the unknown. I promise to keep you posted here and then maybe start a new thread with install pics and driver's seat review?

Peace!
