Polk vs Eclipse speakers

So I'm ready to upgarde the stock 4 speaker system and head unit within the next few weeks and I'm starting to do my research. I've been a fan of Polk for years and would like to stay at that "level" for the CX7. I like the db series and will probably go for those, preferably the 6 x 8's.

Just for the hell of it I stopped into Circuit City on my lunch break to see what crazy closeout deals they were having. As it turns out they have 1 set of Polk db 5x7's left for like $50 and a couple sets of Eclipse SE5700's, also around $50.

My question is; has anyone listened to or installed eclipse speakers before and do you reccommend them? These are a 3 speaker variety with two tweeters, and 2 sets will cost me around $100. Or is my best bet to grab up the Polk's for $50 and then order another set off Crutchfield or somewhere for around $120? Then I have two sets for like $170 and sleep better at night knowing I have quality s***. Maybe I just answered my own question.

Nevermind guys. Went back to Crutchfield and it turns out they have a deal on Polk speakers. Buy one get one half off. I couldn't turn that down, so I picked up two sets of the Polk db571's for $164, with free delivery and free harnesses. Schweeeeeet!

now to hunt down a good double din head unit. any suggestions?

there's tons of options out there.....just find one that fits your needs....

to get the right sound out of the speakers, you really wanna put an amp on them....considering most HUs have an rms out of like maybe 20watts...

the eclipse amps....are straight up badass though...i got a 4 ch (100watts rms per) for like 100 and it is sooooo clean

i'll definitely look into amps once the stock speakers and head unit are taken care of. i'll most likely do a couple amps and 2 10" subs eventually. i hear you on the rms though.

well, "eventually" was pretty quick. i checked out Crutchfield again today and they have Polk/Momo subs bye one, get one free! i picked up two 10" MM2104 subs for $99. so i ended up with the 4 Polk components for the doors, and 2 Polk subs for $270, good deal to me.
