Polk audio setup?

hopefully a Mazda 3!!
This is kind of a hypothetical question but I'll give it a shot. It's hypothetical because I don't have a 3 yet, but it's on its way by the end of the month hopefully.

I know it's a new car and all but I've been reading up on how the stock speakers suck. I need to have a decent sounding car because I always have a CD playing. I had a nice Polk speaker setup with an Alpine HU in my old S-10. I was thinking of maybe doing this:

-Replace front door speaker with some Polk components
-Running it off a 4-channel amp
-Bridge the other 2 channels and run a 8" Polk MOMO in the trunk
-Leave the stock rears as is

I already know I'll either need a LOC or maybe run it off the rear speaker wires right? I want to keep the stock HU cuz I like the way it looks in there as is. Does this setup sound like it would be OK?

if i were you i'd replace the rear speakers also because if you dont the stock distort and you'd still hear the rears distorting, i hooked up my line out converter in the back of my head unit and i have polk speakers ordered from circut city they'll be here in a couple weeks but i just have my subs hooked up right now

When you amplify the fronts and a subwoofer you can get full volume at 50-75% on the head unit. The new speakers/sub will over power the rear stock speakers so that they serve as just a little rearfill. Your system idea sounds good to me. Hook it all up and decide later if you want to upgrade the rears.

Thanks chuyler1!!! Nice to see that my idea sounds good coming from an Audio Moderator.

I STILL don't have my Mazda3 yet! I went to the dealership on Saturday and was offered a bad deal. I knew I was getting screwed and the dealership wouldn't budge so I walked away from it. The bad news is there is only one other Mazda dealership in town! I plan on going there Thursday and see what they have to offer. I hate living in Las Vegas sometimes!! The dealerships here are horrible and they treat you like crap because they know someone else will come in right after you. The saleswoman I was dealing with made a pretty funny comment on which I replied right back at her like a smart ass. She said "The reason I'm being so pushy is because 98% of the people who leave without a car don't come back" I said "You think the reason they don't come back is because you are so effin pushy?"

that sucks, dealers are such a pain in the arse! i was able to get my 3 in january for a couple hundred under the "what others are paying" price on edmunds for my area. i got a little lucky though because 2 dealerships were trying to sell me the same car that they had to do a locate on so i could make 'em face off each other a bit. i'm sure others have gotten way lower then that but i'm not the greatest at bargaining.
