Pod Molding

How the hell do you mold universal pods to the pillar? This hair drier is heating it up but I have a feeling I'll be doing this a while...

i dunno, i coudlnt do it. i tried 3 times to mold my universal pillar pod to the pillar, but it didnt melt together, only warped the plastic and bubbled up. i finally said **** it and just used screws. its only temporary anyways until i mount it in a better spot

(not telling for now ;) )

Do NOT heat a pod up in the oven. I thought maybe since the headlights did so well with the heat that maybe a pod would. Granted I only kept it in there for a few minutes, but I had a LOT of work to do after I did that in order for the gauge to fit again. That plastic doesn't melt as I thought it would, it just deforms to a great extent...

exactly my problem...it doesnt melt, just deform....

oh well.

I just screwed it on there as well as I could. I'll have OrangeMSP make a pillar for me once I get some cash coming in again..

a heat gun would prolly work better

BINGO!! My former gauge pod was from a 1997 up Civic. I went to my local decal shop, and used a heat gun to mold it. Why not just get the Autometer gauge pod?

They didn't have a single 60mm, so I had to go with the Greddy universal pod. Now I'm wanting those gauges you bought.. Damn you for posting pics of those.

I guess I'll have to wait until I get a job again... Linux, you know of anyone hiring in the DFW area? Any work at least >$11/hr where I can work some serious overtime?

dude i am using the greddy pod too,...must be the plastic in our pods then

Yeah, the plastic they used is hard as hell. Even when I did heat it up, it would only move while still in the heat. If I took it out of the oven to try and play with it, it'd cool off again so it wasn't flexible. I should just get 52mm gauges as soon as I can.. I'm kinda wanting more than a boost gauge now that I'm addicted.

Don't really know who is hiring.
