Plugs and wires suggestion

I'm at 53,000 on original plugs and wires. I'm guessing it's probably time to switch them out.

What do you suggest? I've heard of Nology and Magnecor (sp?) wires. and NKG plugs. Are those the ones to get? Though I've had my car for 2 years I still feel like a newb(bike)

I've heard nothing but good things about the magnecors. There have been issues with nology wires, even causing faulty coil packs. I would not get them.

I got sparcko wires when I meant to get magnecor. I was drunk when I ordered them, doh. Sparcko took had the worst customer service I ever experienced, and I hear their wires sometimes do not last long. Magnecors suposedly have a lifetime warranty.

I got ngk plugs, can't remember the exact numbers.

The factory NGK's are great, just get those. I can see paying the money for magnecores for how little you get.

I have Magnecors after my Sparkco's died after 20k... The Magnecor's look just like new and work perfectly still after over 40k miles.

Is there a way to tell if the wires are going bad? The engine will not be firing on all four cylinders?

it will run rough and you'll be getting really bad milage, my stock ones made it to 70,000 miles though

yeah, my mileage has dropped. I use to get 300+ miles before my light comes on. Now I'm lucky if I get 260 before the light comes on...

I agree totally and completely. Stock ignition systems are what you should go for, unless you're making 400+whp. Read this article and note power gains. Click on dyno sheet below the pics. Note the power curve under peak for NGKs. What does this tell you? Mazda knows what they're doing. Stick with the NGKs.

i have'nt had any problems with the nology wires

i have the nology wires and they are nice. take some time to install due to coils getting relocated to front right side on the engine. you have to unwrap the wire-harness running on the backside of the engine to separate the coil pack power wires. gives the engine bay a non-stock look.

the wires are a little expensive if you pay retail but perform well i guess. i got a deal off another member and he had a couple thousand on them.....

i use split-fire plugs......

Yea, DEFINITELY recommend the Nology wires -- get their plugs too.
