What kind of major repairs if any and how long are you comfortable to drive for....in other words, if you were to take your whole family for a looooong road trip, what would be the upper millage threshold you are comfortable with.
Engines and trannys are known to be bullet proof on these. I am especially concerned about all added electronics and gadgets on GT trim. I wonder how these hold up. HIDs reliability? THANK YOU

I chickened out. Before taking trip from Houston to Nashville bought a new one. Not a thing wrong at 160K but just knew it was too good to be true and might not hold up.

I have 193,000 on my 2010 CX9 GT AWD!
Nothing ever wrong with it...just normal maintenance and fluid changes! LOVE my CX9.

WOW Brucie66, that's impressive !! 190,000 AWD, have you ever changed your AWD transfer case oil ??

I think 193,000 AWD is the highest we've seen so far with no issues ! NICE !

Brucie66, you never had a problem with the transfer case? did you or the dealer ever change the oil on the transfer case. If that is the case you are one of the lucky ones.

This is very good news, now I'm less worried about the water pump issue, I can handle the transfer case myself by changing the oil but that water pump repair is just crazy, they have to lift the whole engine to get to it, but if Brucie can get to 193K with no issues then I feel better.

Guys...relax...reliability record of one car..or two..means nothing :)

I've change tranny, and diff fluids @40,000, 100,000 & 160,000. 65% highway driving for my medical sales job!
Run synthetic Ang getting 8500 miles per oil change.

The CX9 has been bullet proof... Have made a few friends Mazda believers! FYI...my mpg on th hwy avg's between 24.5 & 26.2 mpg! Weekly avg is 22!

Brucie66 you really don't do much maintenance to your vehicle. You are really lucky you got a good one. Most people on this forum change their trans fluid around every15-20k miles and there oil every 6k miles. Have you change the coolant or is it the original.

All my fluids have been changed and checked regularly. I check everything monthly and take action when needed. The guy who services my car and I do what's needed...when it's needed!

I treat my CX9 very well, thankyou! No luck about it...large amount of my driving is on the hwy @ 72mph. She's barely turning 2,000 rpm and I avg 23.5 - 26.2 mpg.

All you "experts" can't seem to break 20mpg.

I'll stick to my maintainence schedule. Its been working fine for me. And my Mazda service guys HIGHLY approve!

Hate to rain on your parade...nothing experty or unique about your driving style or maintanance. ..you lucked out with an odd ball of an cx9....it's possible that one in a 100 engines/drivetrains was put together and matched so well...u r getting nice mpg. Either that or u have 1. Driving downhill only, lol. 2. Have hugely over inflated tires. 3. Drive at 10,000 ft + elevation 4. Math is optimistic 5. You are a troll ;) ...or any combination of the above

I've had nothing but great experience with Mazdas...96 626, 92 323, 03 MPV, all ran great when sold at over 200,000 miles each!
I've read hundreds of consumer reviews and very few of them are negative.

Can't wait for the new 9 to hit dealers!

I commute between Boston and DC for work in medical sales...wide variety of terrain

Brucie66 do you know if they ever service the transfer case on your car. I am just curious if they did and what interval do they recommend for this service if they did indeed perform it.

I made them do it @ 100,000 miles and they said the fluid is lifetime. Unless the diff is leaking or malfunctioning they don't service them. My friends father in law has a tranny shop and says to leave it alone.

I really don't ever beat on my CX9 and she has been the most reliable car I've ever owned!

English much?? I made them do it...they said not to and a tranny shop owner that I trust said to leave alone unless leaking or malfunctioning
