Please help!

No matter what I do, I cannot get the stock head unit to come out! I just installed a system attached to the stock unit, and I'm getting some static through one sub, so the head unit needs to come out so that I can check some connections! I have used the coat hangers and it still wont budge....I'm gettin pretty fed up with it, and if something doesnt happen soon im prolly gonna flip. Please help! Thanks.

Go to Walmart. Buy the Ford radio removal tools for ~$3.00. You probably have a clip stuck from when you re-inserted the HU. The tools should undo it.

That's actually kind of misleading. When I had my Protege, I was told to get two sets, as well. However, at Walmart, they are already packaged in sets of two... so I ended up with four of the U-handles.

Yeah I know, you need four to remove the factory unit. Atleat you do to remove it properly and easily.

I didn't need four. I had an '03 LX with the single-disc. In fact, I don't think I could've used four even if I wanted to without bending two of them because they would overlap. I used two, and the HU came out on the first try. I've since taken it out and reinserted it several times using just two.

i don't know what to tell ya, except its got 4 holes for a reason .

Did you use the top or the bottom holes?

there are four hole, but each of the u-bend thingamabobers take up two holes. I just used two u bends and another piece to pull it out when I pulled mine.

Um, if I'm not mistaken, I think I used the top two, but it's been a couple of months since I had the car. It worked just fine.

bicycle spokes worked for me.........bent into a flat sided U...one on each side....pops the deck right out
