Please help....Mobile video....

hey any of you guys know if it would be possible to invert the screen? my idea is mount it upside down so it doesn't cover the vents when turned on.

thanks

well found the pic....

anyways i don't know how to post pics so ill just post the link

http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?threadid=12931

so ive been told this works well in the carputer set ups that most of the people on that other board have over there and it's really good quality so i guess its all good. i also was able to answer my own question while searching though that board. i will be able to invert the screen though software in windows so it would be possible to mount the lcd upside down in the bottom din slot. at least when using a computer that's a solution, dunno if i wanna hook up a ps2 or something (use video in on pc itself i guess)

anyways. ..... what do you guys think of moutning it in the bottom slot? it will cover the a/c controls but the monitor is tiltable :spelling: it gets pretty damn hot here in FL during the summer and not having those top vents would be killer. another plus is that it makes it less viewable to the popo when driving with the screen on.

:bs: P.S. no one ever welcomed me to the board:wtf: . . . anyways im cool. . .just wish i got some loving

good idea!!!
I was thinking about same thing, because i don't want it get overheated caused by air vents.
but how much this will costs to install computer? computer+lcd+other neccesary parts.

costs for a computer. . . . .really depends on what you want to use the computer for. . ..just mp3? gps? dvd?. .. the list goes on and on. . .pretty much you can do almost anything you want to fit your budget

the way that im thinking now is that i want all those aformentioned functions and in a small package so i think ill be using one of the new VIA epia boards taht just came out using the C3 processor, its no speed demon but at 1ghz and an all intergrated solution it's a nice little package that should be able to decode divx (probably the most intesive function of the car puter)

depending on what you already have, prices will vary

my proposed set up would be. . ..
$177 VIA epia m1000 mobo (integrated solution, onboard sound {support for dolby 5.1}, onboard video with mpeg2 decoder built in, tv out (for lcd)
$62 512MB PC 2700 DDR Kingston ram
47 for a slot load pioneer 16x dvd drive
105 seagate baracuda IV 80 gig drive (quietest drives ive ever owned)
99 for a Garmin etrex (basic model). it is the most basic gps which i can take hiking if needed but for the computer it will be used in conjuction with mapping software via a serial cable connection
10 dollars for the cable on ebay unless i have the time to make one myself.

the power supply i have lying around and i will probably also built a shutdown controller hooked up to the ignition so that computer will shut down when the car is turned off.
30-40 bucks for a power inverter at sams club (cheaper locally)

for a case i think i will build something custom to either fit inside the glovebox or under the seat, either option will do well as the mobo doesn't produce much heat.

so for me i will be spending around 600-700 for the computer setup. factor in the cost of this screen with the touchpad overlay put in that kicks me a little over 1k

but in order for all this to work i still have to replace my stock 6cd changer as this lcd will be put in place plus a new HU....im thinking im going to get one of the panasonic ghost faces... i think they pretty bad ass and my friend's had one for a while

Yeah, you can almost do anyhting with this monitor - I am real happy with it.....not expensive at all and the picture quality is great!

Which reciever should I get the Pioneer AVH-P6400 Receiver with 6.5 or the Clarion VRX815 reciever with the 7" screen. I wan a unit with the best graphics in all modes instead of just one. Basically which is the best bang for your buck

here are the tv's..and also you can use any headunit with an fm modulator..all a modulator does is plug into the antenna which all radios have...

I have them too (3 screens), but mine are black. Nice clean install there. Got them off of http://www.Ubid.com for $105 USD a piece.

I know that this is not my car but I have the same monitor, I have been asked many times for my pics but I have not had a chance to post them yet ..... I may even be going with a new monitor real soon because I am interested in the TV tuner and Motorized function, and as you all know this monitor does not have these two functions ...... But anyway - here is Micah's in-dash pic:

If anyone has any questions about anything regarding this monitor let me know, I still stand by my opinion that this is a good quality screen. I just broke my car out of storage from the winter season so I'll be posting my pics soon too.

Accele DVD

Here are some nice dvd players from Accele. I just installed the one at the top in a car the other day. It is sweet. It can be mounted horizontal or vertical and has a 3 way built in A/V switcher.

well, ya know .... you happened to have the pics and the same monitor so, serves both purposes. ;) thanks BTW.

I installed my indash monitor this weekend but cant seem to find a decent spot for my PS2... anyone have any ideas.... its just barely too big for the glove box and im not getting out of the car every time i wanna watch a movie...

Mine is chillin under the drivers seat with the tray facing the rear. Works well under there but I never play it, just have it for the sake of having one.

ill have to try that out tomorrow.... do you have to reach around back to turn it on and off/reset it... and does it sit ok under there.... noone kicks it?

wire up a "remote open" switch near the drivers seat with a quick disconnect plug so you can still remove the PS2 if needed.
