Be aware that springs will make your shocks go bad faster........get some koni yellowz while ur at it. Thats the only reason I am waiting to do springs.

cobb advertises that there springs will work fine with the stock stuts.

its his tire sidewall. If he were to get meatier tires you would see a reduction in that gap

The car is lower than stock. Any "meatier" tires, as mentioned, could cause rubbing from what I was told from the guys a Wheeldude.com

I'm sticking with Mazdaspeed stuff (springs, CAI,CBE) as to not have any issues with my warranty...

The stock dampers aren't even good enough for the STOCK springs, let alone springs that are stiffer and lower...

I refuse to purchase suspension parts for this car until someone engineers something with an intelligent, performance-minded, track-tested approach. The lack of decent suspension options for the MS3 is laughable.

Aren't the Mazdaspeed Coilovers pretty much what you just stated?

It's hard to say, considering that they don't publish the actual spring rates (that I've seen, anyway) and just say that they're "approximately double" of what the stock rates are.

In my opinion (which is based from a reasonably extensive amount of experience and knowledge of the similar-to-C1-platform C170 platform upon which the early Euro and US spec Ford Focus rides, and my experience so far with the MS3), the rear spring rates need to be higher relative to the front rates than any current offering that I'm familiar with (most currently available products just increase the stock rates by a certain factor, keeping relative F/R rate ratios pretty much the same as stock). Most aftermarket systems that are currently available also do not increase the spring rates nearly enough to compensate for the reduced ride height and suspension travel that they force upon the system (with the exception of the coilover setups that allow near-stock ride height). That brings me to effects on roll center and camber gain, both of which become issues when lowering the MS3 much more than probably 1/2" or so, but that I'll leave to discuss another day when I have more time...

At any rate, I was speaking more to the need for a good matched spring/damper combo that doesn't break the bank, but still does the job well.

From reading up on the MS coilovers, I think I'll be saving my money on any springs and spending it on the Coils.

What about Ground Control, they offer anything yet?

you can fit meatier tires and still not rub. those look to be rather thin....what size are they? 205/40?
