I doubt that kit was made for mass production, it probably doesn't even work. If you look it is not intercooled at all. No one would build a working turbo kit for our cars without using an intercooler. Well, they could, but it wouldn't be practical.
Are you saying its not intercooled because you dont see a big front mount intercooler or because you see something I dont? It could easily have a smaller intercooler mounted elsewhere as do almost all factory turbo setups (i.e. volkswagen mounts a small intercooler in between the passenger front wheel and the bumper).
This kit was produced by rotary performance in houston (I think thats the name of the company) Mazda was involved in the design study. It is a one off kit with a cast iron manifold/t3 turbo. The kit will not be mass produced atleast not for a long time and the car does not even work. They could not find a way to rig up a fuel pressure regulator because there is no return fuel line on our cars. And yes it is not an intercooled kit. The setup would look really cool if it had a nice little top mount intercooler though and use a hood scoop like the wrx!
Hey mp3xtc your logo thing is schweeeeeet!!
Hey apexistud,
A friend of mine that saw the car said he spoke to the guys that built it up and they said it was not functional. Perhaps He was taking about another car. But hell if that bad boy works thats pretty cool! I would like to see how it rides. Do you know if it has an intercooler? From the pics it looks like it doesn't have one.
If you look at all the pics of the engine you will notice the pipe that goes from the compressor side of the turbo goes straight up to the intake manifold. There is no way to fit a small intercooler anywhere in the engine bay. Only places would be on top of the engine, like a WRX, in the fender, or front mount, and the pipe doesn't go to the fender or the front.

Well if it's not functional, how do you suppose they got the car in there, and why would they showcase a nonfunctional turbo'd car. It is possibly to run a turbo'd car with no intercooler. "Possibly, but not optimal". GReddy and APEXi both sell turbo kits for Civics with the intercooler as an upgrade or option. If you look even closer on this car, there's even the O2 sensor plugged into the exhaust manifold and all the correct hoses and piping seem to be intact. Well, I think it's functional, just my .02 cents
wow very nice....
